Callum Brock

Hahahahahhahahaha that letter had me cackling

Erikbongo

Holy fuck

Simeon Dobromirov

That's the craziest shit I have read omg

Hive Tyrant

Poor Thalas

tharindu prasad

He is very funny, is a dark, twisted sort of way

Myrdin

Has to be Odette

Charlie

Who could be the new Lord-Treasurer? Confirmed a woman, so possibly Odette, but she would presumably be pretty confused as to why. Maybe Patriate's dubious sister? Simon could play it off as her being the mole, in exchange for information about his gift.

Pradian

The moment Euphemia bring up Anna, I can see Simon fuming. LOL

Skinnybonz

This is funny. I thought for some time there was going to be a twist that revealed that Balzam was actually kinda good somehow someway and that alot of the evidence left proving his evil were going to be red herrings. It's hitting me now that the 'twist' is that he was played straight and he actually is irredeemably evil, though I probably should have realized that when we saw him kill his first wife.

Charlie

A possible endgame for the story is to eventually search for a way to destroy the overlord class - but I wonder what would happen if Simon made the attempt. If the throne would start fighting back.

Charlie

Now that we have the envy mark, seems like all that's left is pride, for absolute obedience, and wrath, presumably granting combat ability/strength in some way.

Xeophyn

I'm now kinda surprised his rankings didn't include Lauriane and Norbelle. Given the sheer scope of his shittiness.

Xeophyn

I love this idea

MasterofNova

I mean, he did a lot already. Killed the dudes mother and stepdad. Left the inheritance note so everyone would know it's Simon even if it wasn't. Left the note about his mother and then booby trapped where her remains were. Sabotaged any potential relationship Simon could've had with the future Paladin by sending him that message. Can't forget how he raised the kid to be classless and without allies or any form of powerbase either. What more would you like to be done to Simon that hasn't been listed? Say what u will about Balzam, he doesn't diddle his kids.

Earnest

Crucial note from last chapter, simon can just send Louis on almost any mission at the start of a reign by repeating that meeting. Highest value would be a suicide mission like trying to get the craft stone and getting sniped (the lich would probably take an interruption personally and pay simon a visit if Louis visited him). I also wonder how much mileage simon could get from playing magnos in that conversation then mentioning he's leaving for a bit after and if anyone asks questions just being vague and ominous. What are you going to do? "Something I should have done a long time ago" or what are you going to do? "Call it a housecleaning" then just disappear, keep being Simon and see how long it takes for someone to realize he's not coming back. He can clean conspiracies out and give whatever orders serve him before he goes too.

MasterofNova

Think he does sex math. Thalas was the one already on the way by the time he became Overlord and he actively states he has difficulty conceiving Norbelle because of the Thalas issue.

HarpsichordSlayer

Oh I get it. The person who kills the overlord the most is the one who obtains his power. So he had to be cruel to his kids so they would kill him to ensure it was passed down to them. The disappointment in Thalas is because he knew he would never inherit the class even though the original Overlord wanted him to. Hmm wonder when Simon realizes this and that he will need to be cruel like his father to his kids so they will kill him and inherit the class or else the class will go to his enemies.

Cerbero300

I cried from disgust hahaha

Dylan Alexander

Same, while I can understand him more now and even sympathise to a degree, he still sucks. He tried killing his brother ffs out of jealousy.

Andreas Finn

Is Norbana destined to be born or is Balzam doing some sex math to make sure she is? Considering how meticulously he is documenting his "conquests" I wouldn't be surprised either way. Or was it mentioned that she was already on the way by time he became Overlord?

khaled najjar

Well, that was crazy

Tilen Praprotnik

Thanks for the chapter

MaliMi

I still hate Thalas.

Dylan Alexander

I don’t. While I can understand her better, she’s still a piece of shit who tried killing Simon and plunged the empire into civil war.

da Finnci

Lauriane would have attacked him then and there lol

Federico

When they asked about Simon I hoped he would have replied something like "I needed a body double after all" :D It works even better with the new mark of envy.

Zahir Nahasamapetial

With each reign i like Euphemia more

Sly Bayesian Fox

I am so glad Jester king won the vote

Sly Bayesian Fox

Am I evil for laughing out loud? Balzam always finds a way to make things worse, and damn. He's funny.

Zahir Nahasamapetial

Man I'm glad the Overlord is dead, no wonder all his kids are fucked up, rapist, cannibal, murderer... it's strange that he didn't fuck up his kids more...

Dylan Alexander

Talking about married children. When it came to nobles they didn’t consider bastards true born unless specifically stated.

CentaureHeart

He's going to need the support of a lot of people that Balzam fucked over, because the apocalypse is coming and he doesn't really have the time to train a whole new team. So... Maybe they aren't going to be best buds but they might have to learn how to work together at the very least

Unlisted Pokémon Hudson

Balzam’s note says all of my true born children and than Simon. Is he not true born?

Dylan Alexander

Doubt it, Thalas despises Simon, ever since Balzam smiled at him when he arrived. He’s to spiteful and jealous, always seeking daddies approval, rarely ever doing anything for himself unless it’s trying to kill Simon.

Dylan Alexander

I hope this doesn’t become some sort of save and fix everyone story. I need people to dislike without feeling sorry for them.

Lucy Severine

Damn this is a really good chapter for emphasising that Thalas needs saving too. As does Euphemia

Dylan Alexander

I wonder if we’re supposed to start feeling sorry for everyone in this story because of Balzam, are they all pieces of shit because of him or are some just generally that way? Is Simon going to try and ‘fix’ his family in a future reign? God I hope not. Let some of them remain pieces of shit.

DaoCorner

Honestly it looks like Thalas may end up being the "easiest" of Simon's antagonistic family to win over. He's soft at heart and no matter what Balzam did to temper him, it never really worked. Well, he's soft in regard to Balzam at least. But I think we're learning here that runs where Simon impersonates Balzam end up putting him in the best spot for keeping the kingdom together: assuming someone doesn't find out. But Simon has plenty of time to master his doppleganger act of Balzam anyways. Having said that, Simon for his own health is unlikely to make it a habit of doing too many Balzam runs.

George R

Insane chapter

Dylan Alexander

I’m not sure. Ever since he saw his father smile at Simon he’s been broken. He hates him with a passion and has tried having him killed.

C. Adkins

I’m starting to think Void should just write villains. Like holy fuck, like Satan is taking notes from Balzam. Balzam is so despicable, yet also, somewhat comedic in how self aware he is. I hate him so much! Great job Void. He might literally be the worse villain I’ve ever read

Karim Saadi

Uff , just uffffff

Void Herald

Just checked, if that refers to the sentence 'when I slew Gargauth' it was a type; I meant 'before' so Balzam couldn't go back and 'savescum' his way out of Thalas' birth XD

BrandyLeeT

Pretty sure His Soul is in the Red Throne right?

BrandyLeeT

Need more...

Julian Hinck

I thank you for this Kind gift, and hate you for it XD

Julian Hinck

I thing this later was for the VERY unlikly event that Thales finaly Maneged to Kill him. then hed be The Overlord and can read the Leter

Brahman Brahman

I think it’s just because no one else read them

Ainz Ooal Gown

Wait, how does Balzam regress before he got the Overlord class? Simon also just gets back to the moment he gets the Overlord class, which in Balzams case would mean the moment he killed Gargauth

Duesal Bladesinger

Void Herald you are fucking genius at writing asshole villains. Holy shit. I am astonished.

The-Nowhere-Man

That's actually a point some other people have raised, the crimson throne punishes and outright kills the overlord if they spill the beans on the reigns... but surely the letters are smoking guns so to speak about the loops so why was Balzam even able to write them?

Antony444

Being Talas is indeed suffering. And the worst part is that the Overlord Class agrees.

The-Nowhere-Man

We need a reign where Simon resurrects Balzam via some good old Necromancy and Diabolism and interrogates him for all he's got in that twisted head of his (also for some catharsis), because we need to see that man bleed some... ...also considering the Overlord Class bringing back the previous Overlord's soul via necromancy, enslaving it and making him suffer would probably be worth some levels and maybe even a decent perk after that reign

Abdilaahi Abdirahmaan

It's a letter for Thalas but how would he understand its contents regarding Balzam impregnating Thalas' wife in a reign and some other details in the message that mentions other reigns without Thalas being the Overlord? If Balzam never thought that Thalas had the aptitude of an Overlord then he probably shouldn't be writing that letter at all with the mentioning of other regins right? The only way it would make sense is if Balzam was just writing the letter for his own eyes only and it wasn't meant for Thalas but that would still have its own plot holes and writing wise it would be kinda weak.

alejandrox

I think he read it at the beginning of the reign of Simon the Adventurer, the first chapter.

Diego Urbina

I think, it's clear that if Balzam did this to Thalas, then he must have also done something similar to the Crown Prince Louis. I think Balzam must have done something to have him become a Sociopath.

alejandrox

I absolutely agree.

alejandrox

Greetings bro, I hope you're doing well and in good health. Fixing Thalas while being Simon... would be easier if Simón were fixing Belzhemine

alejandrox

This doesn't hurt, this BURNS, it will destroy Thalas's soul if he ever finds out.

BlaueFeder

Boiled Elf Turkey A La Bel’Zemine. That gives a whole new meaning to "experience turkey".

Noxx

The intrusive, demonic thought of Balzam in a cooking apron making food for the entire family is so scarring. I want to share it with everyone

alejandrox

What are you talking about??? He already won the award for worst father!!!!

MockingBird

Given Balzams personality, I'm surprised the vindictive bastard didn't do more to make things difficult in the current timeline. Assuming he kept track of the reigns, you'd think he'd do more to fuck over his successor. Then again, maybe he did. I doubt he was unaware of the elves, so maybe he did leave things be.

alejandrox

Thanks for the chapter, wow, it's a whole new level! As for Thalas, I honestly feel really sorry for him. He loves the worst father I've ever read about, and even then, he ends up disappointing him. Thalas is truly a lost cause.

Renn

I don’t know. It doesn’t really fit the theme. If there’s something like that, it is most likely from devouring a different stone

Matthew Escobar

I can't belive im about to say this, but I wish simon dedicates a loop to patching things up with thalas. Maybe in the church loop or something. Guy only ever loved his dad, and was treated like crap for it. He at least deserves a chance for character development.

Renn

Well he wouldn’t be able to read it for one. And it would kill Simon

Renn

Yeah, the Minotaur thing was directly mentioned when we met them. He even remembers it.

Fortniter

Someone is not winning dad of the year

FuriousDee

I do wonder what would happen if Thalas was shown that letter.

Jannik

In which concrete points do you think it’s not written well? I thought it was quite good.

Alibhai

I almost glossed over it because of the distraction that Balzam is. But yeah she was groomed. Overlord dearest eliminated all her love interests and married her through a process of elimination. Tho I wouldn't call her upstanding you don't get to be the wife of the overlord without being complicit in say genocidal activities.

Pop

You'll need to do another pass of this chapter. It's entertaining (as are all your chapters) but this one wasn't written well

CentaureHeart

Given that you get rewarded with some kind of rush of satisfaction when you earn a level I do think it conditions you. So it does taint you for good or bad.

Publius Decius Mus

It's even worse. The letter implies that Thalas wasn't an insecure prick in every timeline. Balzam deliberately molded him into this pitiable creature.

Alibhai

Now that I’ve had some time to process the chapter, I’m considering which crestone ability Simon should have. 1) I have two perspectives: one based on what I would like to see for him and another based on what makes sense for his skill set. Personally, I would love for Simon to have a Paladin ability, as it would ultimately lead him toward subverting the Overlord class. However, that seems unlikely since the Overlord class would likely restrict that possibility, making it too incompatible. On the other hand, the Summoner crestone probably offers the most options. Simon could easily gather cannon fodder and shock troops, but what he truly needs are champions, which the Summoner class could help provide. 2) I almost overlooked this since what Balzam was spewing was so shocking. He mentioned Simon took the form of bull horned demon. The Minator. So there were previous Reigns in which that Archdemon got his hands on Simon.

CentaureHeart

That's not even emotional damage at this point. It's soul damage. Well played, I like Thalas now. Dude had no chance with a father like that.

Publius Decius Mus

Oh boy. How will Simon ever unfuck this in one lifetime?

TheCrazyDuck

Balzam is truly the most vile and evil human to ever exist, your writing and creativity is amazing and a little scary.

Chad B. Sonnen

Damn, Balzam is the most interesting character in the story and he isn't even alive anymore. Lmfao, he stopped sleeping with Euphemia because their coupling produced someone like Thalas and he couldn't perform anymore because of it. Lol. That cookbook probably coresponds with another Overlord perk, that gives permanent buff to making and eating 'complex' dishes and not just a form of hedonism.

Logrus

Balzam is spectacularly evil. Well done. I suspected something like this, glad to see it confirmed.

Jasus

Could it be that Euphemia is the most upstanding in the entire Magnos line? Even when she has been groomed her whole life.

Alibhai

What the f*** man. Is Thalas a insecure prick yes but come on!! I couldn't wish a father like Balzam on my worst enemy. I,I need to walk around a bit to process this...

Štěpán Srb

Can Somebody Tell me in which chapter Simon read his letter?

Walker Hayse

also, maybe this knowledge unlocks a path to converting Thalas onto Team Simon

Walker Hayse

You do a great job of continuously showing how absurdly shitty Balzam was.

Alibhai

Noo~ he is great dude. Loves to cook. By the way you must try his secret recipes. Nothing comes near his cooking.

GloryHound

Holy crap.

Alan Kwok

More insight into how Balzam spent his reigns… interesting

Ido Pazi

It's been a while since I've had a book that keeps me on the edge of my seat like this one. I find myself rereading almost every chapter twice out of enjoyment. Thank you and looking forward to the next one

Jacob Monson

I wonder how much of an effect the Crestones have on their user. Does having the Dancer make you a better dancer? Does having the Overlord Class make you more of an overlord the more you level? I think that leveling itself might become a trap of the class. I couldn't help but notice that Simon referred to Belzamine as his elf slave when talking about healing her spirit. Does he mean that she is a slave now so she is by definition a slave? Or is he perhaps slipping down the slope and beginning to truly view her as his. Evil is a slippery slope and the belief that nothing truly matters till the last reign might be Simon's achilles heel. If one class could affect time why couldn't others? I'm afraid that Simon will do something truly unforgivable in a reign due to him thinking that it won't be permanent only for some Class shenanigans destroy that idea.

Riley

I’m starting to think Balzam might actually be a bad dad

Seriously?

Well i dont

Bunny Waffles

And so we sing that ever returning refrain, "Balzam was a monster."

Black Rose

Tftc

Hynth

The cruel is certainly cruel

McPiecey

Balzam is evil as shit.
