I dont quite think theres enough of a foundation for this loyalty to Eole. I mean, i sorta got him saying no the the dragon, he said he would do that. Still an insane knee jerk reaction, but sort of plausible since it seemed like he gave it some consideration before hand, for whatever reason. But stuff like purposely holding back when she's possessed by an archdemon trying to kill/mind enslave him, or jumping in front of dragon flame to protect her, or even his first thoughts being about how to really earn her friendship, seem like a stretch. Her health and well-being just shouldnt be anywhere close to a priority for him. Like, really, how many conversations have they had? What has she done to endear herself to him? What does he LIKE about her? She's been an unwilling slave for both lives he's known her, in the first life she immediately tried to control his mind, in this one he's only used her as a scout who then betrayed him at her first opportunity.

Seriously?

I think i commented it before but i really dont like "leveling arcs" they are boring more often than not. But i understand that with this kind of story it is inevitable and i have faith in your ability to make it interesting. Also i would prefer it if you where to keep Anna as a blood relative. Seems to me more realistic to the setting. Good chapter!

Great chapter! I get why you're considering changing the cousin relationship, but honestly, I’m not thrilled about it. I really respect original author vision over adjusting for reader comfort. Especially when cousin marriage is historically accurate and fits the world you've built. Keeping it actually adds realism and makes the setting feel more authentic and lived-in. It sucks to lose that depth just to avoid a bit of discomfort.

I liked how Simon was kind of weirded out by the idea but Anna was just "anything to prevent me from having to end up with Thal-ass". Depressingly realistic. Really highlighted how Simon wasn't raised as a member of the aristocracy even though he was raised around them, and it also really shows that Anna is in a unenviable position despite (or perhaps because) she's a member of the aristocracy.

I find it really funny how people are so squicked out by cousin marriage when Blood and Fur had SO much worse.

My hunger for more chapters is somehow only made worse by getting more chapters. A real Yohuachanca-type situation

No! Don't compromise your vision because of handfull of people don't like it! If they dont like it they dont have to read it. It's ridiculous that have any problem at all. Cousin marriage has very common throughout human history, especially amongst aristocracy. I hate the idea of you having to rewrite what has been an amazing and well made story because of the opinions of a minority of people. Don't let them control YOUR Story!

Great chapter!

I wouldn't overestimate the number of people who would have had a problem with it to be honest. Cousin marriage was completely normal for aristocracy and those who cry about it being "weird" probably have far worse in their browser history.

Publius Decius Mus

Cousin-marriage averted, Simon's children may have normal chins now! I pity you for all the times you will have to substitute the word 'cousin' in the previous chapters though. Theory-time! The zodiac fiends were beaten into pulp and sealed away by the first heroes who got the noble classes, so the zodiac fiends conspired and somehow created the Crimson Throne, gave it to Mardok to be their champion against these class-possessing humans. Mardok said thank you, made some kind of a deal with the heroes, and helped to seal away his previous allies. He never really died after that, his essence is still in the Throne and the Overlord Class pulling the strings of Balzam, Garguath before and Simon now. He is also the final boss Simon will have to face in his quest to Just Be Finally Left Alone To Do His Own Thing.

At least though it explains how Balzam the Cruel could be killed by the Zodiac Beasts, one (or several) which could also be Simon. Between Possession and time to ramp up, there's a good chance somone can indeed slay the Overlord.

Ah XD I understand but I'm happy with the change and I think it'll work fine. For the polls, it's mostly that there's so many ways the story can go and I want to try them all, but I would like to see what you guys want most. I'm not going to put polls for every loop, but I find it nice to offer choices now and then ;) plus we all know that time loops means we'll try all options eventually.

Excellent chapter! Also at the risk of repeating myself...I believe Casval must die. How is it in Latin..ah, yes, Casval Ashmodai Delendum Est (or something like that). No matter how weak he is, a good dragon is a dead dragon.

Federico Bellavista

Honestly speaking, I would have preferred the blood-relationship to stay as it was. It gave depth to the setting, an edge of grittiness and a pinch of historical realism that I like quite a bit in my fantasy readings. It's been a while since I read one of your works (I had dropped Blood & Fur for a bit near the end and caught up with it only recently) but boy am I glad I have found the time to check this one out! It's shaping to be one of your best works yet. The characters, the setting and the structure of this world feel very inspired and the words flow easily. One thing, though: I am not sure I like the polls. It's a very cool thing for you to interact with your audience and I of course gladly took part in it, but I honestly always look back on it and think "What if this isn't the outcome he would've liked the most? What if things were originally meant to go differently? What if we are 'forcing' him down a path that isn't what he had envisioned?" Granted, with the time-loop gimmick of this story, you can always wipe the board and make the Final Reign take the course you think fits the most, but still...
