Damn he was working hard for that "The Cruel" title very early on!

Michael Grable

Better just get strong enough to pull his soul from the dark and torment it before the souls of those he made suffer

Michael Grable

See that’s why he deserves the class. Each reign to him is the last, not another. If he thinks, I got another, then he will be corrupted and become callous. If you want a callous evil Simon then your point is correct. I want an uncorrupted Simon so I very much appreciate his cadence, for striving to keep everyone alive every reign, rather than treating them as expendable.

Dennis Ungureanu

why does he care so much if they die in his reign if they really dont actually die? unless its not a perm death for either

alejandrox

O.O

Agoramon

I really hope, Simon became a god and travelled back in time to kill the bastard. Slowly. Painfully. Over and over again.

Antony444

Don't forget Balzam had Euphemia with him...and who knows how many troops to serve as bait/distractions. We don't have any information about the final battle save that Euphemia was to be critical to win it. There has to be plenty of reasons why Balzam wanted to marry her, and I don't think sex or love are the answers.

Myrdin

It is difficult to believe that Gargauth could have been defeated, given that he has lived for so long and had his own reigns to accumulate power. I wonder if him being a dragon somehow clashed with the Crimson Throne and he had fewer reigns

Void Herald

Corrected ;) well I think one of the keys to understanding Balzam Magnos is that he's the very picture of a chaotic evil parenting style XD

Antony444

I have also the feeling Balzam refused to become a Lich by the power of sheer pettiness he felt after having been killed four times by his ancestor. Of course, there is no way to confirm for sure, but if it is true, the world being spared a Lich because Balzam was humiliated by the Librarian is absolutely hilarious.

Federico Bellavista

I feel like the Fiends are somewhat of an endgame. The cutoff point where Simon will be forced to become massively strong in order to even remotely deal with them. Like a DPS check, assuming they wake up in order of strength. If he's, say, below level 60 (lowballing it) when the Ram wakes up, he's done for and the reign restarts, and so on and so forth. They would not be considered world-ending threats otherwise.

Federico Bellavista

A couple of things: - "The Scorpion would rise beforehand, then it meant the Zodiac Fiends would rise one after [the other]"; - when Eleanor was arguing with the Asshole: "An army?!" Eleanor laughed bitterly, "I gave you your army, you ungrareful [wretch]!" These two typos aside, wonderful chapter! Although considering Balzam's true nature, I wonder why he left Simon alive, especially after he killed him so many times in his previous reigns... Did he enjoy the challenge? Or maybe it was some twisted form of respect borne of Simon actually standing up to him and following through with the murder?

Antony444

Well. The more we see of Balzam, the more the emotion rising in my heart is...relief. Seriously, in all the timelines, all who did the deed of removing him from the living deserve flowers and a triumph. Honestly, killing your wife while she is pregnant with your own child is...a sickening level of low. Hell, this can be even called 'abyssally into the Pit'. 'Low' is a word far too weak... As for Simon, he is beginning to learn to react to defeats and living in a long timeline, besides acquiring more and more ugly secrets. I am also happy he resolves to strive to grow stronger to protect his retainers in the next reigns. He clearly is not his father. Amusingly, his birth conception is now confirmed beyond doubt to have happened before Balzam became Overlord, meaning that in over one hundred Reigns, the Cruel had to deal with his bastard son assassinating him over and over. The Gods know Balzam deserved it for all the evils he committed and tolerated...

Sam

I've been wondering what happens to the other people when a cycle restarts. Does that timeline get erased or does it continue on with the killer in that timeline becoming the overlord?

CentaureHeart

Well now I actually think that the Overlord class probably brought Balzam some humility...

Erik

You have to appreciate a full-on, no holds barred, piece of shit villain like that. No redeeming qualities or soft side, just bastard all the way through.

Jasus

Now the question is if Simon will be able to survive long enough to see what the demon fiends will unleash. Or will the civil war start bevor that.

Void Herald

I'll point out that a certain peasant woman is mentioned in the chapter, make that what you will ;)

Pride

With the mention of dryads I’m thinking that they might be similar to Lady Broceliande where they’re so ancient that entire forests can trace their lineage back to them. Not to mention the existence of manatrees which I guarantee are related to them or prime targets for their homes. So fighting one of them is probably similar to fighting an entire forest of magical trees which sounds like an absolute nightmare.

BlaueFeder

They infect your brain with invasive hippieness.

Seriously?

Great Chapter. Could Simon be the fourth child? Was he somehow born after Eleanor died?! It seems unlikely but i dont think Eleanors story is done yet.

BlaueFeder

I hope Simon finds a way to travel back in time so he can kill Belzam once more.

Pradian

There would not be a fourth. - time to be an adventurer. ;)

Riley

Dryads make the flee on sight list?! Now I’ve gotta know the entirety of this universe’s lore on dryads

Publius Decius Mus

Wow. Balzam really was a piece of work. Is it possible that the cycles even mellowed him out somewhat? He respected Simon in the end at least.

Diego Urbina

Hm, yes that's evident. It's one thing to hear he's evil, another to see it first hand.

George R

Great chapter thanks so much
