Parricide is the deliberate killing of one's own parent which is fine in this case.

DeadSlime

Another Wtf moment, extra big fuck you as well.

CMA27

Typo - Patricide not parricide

Another question I have is why did he bring Simon in the castle since he would have been weak, and so not a threat to him? According to the letter, he wasn't aware Simon was his son nor that he even existed to begin with. As he said, he would have ended up in a loving and caring household and he'd be weak. So there's no way he would have crossed paths with Belzam. I don't understand! He said he killed the mother because he wanted to make the best version of himself. That I can understand but again, according to the letter, he mentions he took very long time to realize Simon was his son. But then during those times, he was weak and useless for his legacy. And since in his tent he fucked many without any care, it is likely he shouldn't have even known she had a baby.

Tenebris77

I have a question. When Belzam died, was it his 100th reign? Or is it possible to end the curse prematurely? I just cannot conceive how he could die like that if not because he reached his last reign, but then wouldn't he be extremely cautious? Meh.

Simon

Wow. I keep forgetting how much of an asshole balzam is

Kaze

“That was the price of your conception, and I remember feeling fleeced anyway.” This dude is/was cold as ice.

alejandrox

Thanks for the chapter. The worst father ever.

MasterofNova

Ik it was just a couple of sentences but possibly as Elias's biggest fan I like that reference u made. Also fuck the Nightlords and their father, I like Balzam way more than any of the other villains I've seen of ya and dudes already dead. Feel like this is what you would've made Zeus like if he ever appeared in Kairos.

Jasus

Poor Agnes. She has probably figured out why the overlords keep her alive.

BlaueFeder

"Experience turkey" LMFAO

Renn

I think the most successful attempts thing is a red herring, because otherwise, why are both other times the class is transferred been to the killer. Not to mention if it was created to do that, there is no guarantee that the person who killed them the most times would still be alive during the final death

C. Adkins

I wonder if this is a legacy perk from Balzams customization of the class. Feels like a Balzam perk because he’s such an asshole

Void Herald

Oups, yes some incoherence from the early chaps. Rewritten those to make more sense ;)

Great chapter! I want Simon to destroy the Magnos legacy, but it’s going to be really hard for him to be a good person as an overlord, especially while living multiple lives, enduring countless betrayals and misunderstandings, and being forced to commit heinous acts just to level up. When Simon finally takes over the empire, I’d love for him to change the family name from Magnos to his mother’s last name. That alone would probably infuriate his father, since seeing his “noble” name supplanted by a “whore’s” would be poetic justice. Also, a quick note: in the first chapter, Simon says his father’s knight’s took him after his mother died, but in this chapter and in chapter 12 it seems like she was still alive when they took him.

Amazing chapter

> The Lovestruck: You have found love and lost it; and it won’t be the last time. You can pass any Ailment you suffer from to anyone you are legally married or engaged to, so they share the pain too. What a useless ability. Now I am convinced that there will be a great plot significance to it, and this ability will save Simon at one point.

Antony444

Yes, in hindsight, that has to be the reason. Of course, Simon and the others may have dealt with him first before Thalas could mount any attempt. I think the reign where Balzam slept with Thalas' fiancée has to be one of those, because there are only two scenarios for this one: either Thalas didn't have the time to mount a successful attempt, or Thalas was killed by Balzam himself shortly after...

CentaureHeart

Digging deeper and deeper

Antony444

Oh, it is pure gold. Balzam did everything to make sure Simon wouldn't kill him, and in the unlikely case he did, to make him suffer long past his demise. And yet...Balzam was wrong about everything. Simon clearly inherited the Overlord class without killing him (unless he wiped out his memory somehow after the deed and found a way to remove all his levels), because the Throne likely counted the number of successful attempts, not the final reign. By forcing Simon to not get a Crestone or any significant level, Balzam has indeed kept Simon too weak compared to his other children, making a civil war the near-inevitable scenario. And above all? Balzam was so confident he had defanged Simon and the Zodiac Beasts had yet to awaken that he didn't see his true death coming, meaning his evil was not just monstrous, it was completely inefficient. If somehow people were free to speak of Balzam One Hundred Reigns, he wouldn't be called the Cruel. He would be the Cruel Failure.

Erik

I keep being surprised by how incredibly awful this guy is. It is really remarkable, but I think I hate him more than the vampire witch-gods of 'Blood and Fur'. It is all just so cold blooded and considered, and with zero vampire curse excuse.

Riley

“…and who traded her favors for a silver coin. That was the price of your conception, and I remember feeling fleeced anyway” made me say “Jesus Christ” out loud, and things still got so much worse 😭

Yozora

Must be there files on his siblings, simon should've asked, i mean he is curious about lauriane and information on his other siblings is always important

Arthur Glenn

The more I read this the more I realize that Balzam would still be alive and have a lot less deaths if he wasn't such a asshole. I thought his deaths would be his fault and events put of his control but no only rhe Zodac fiends are maybe not his fault but everything else his fault because of his stupid way of running a kingdom. I also understand why he gave Thalas so much cause Balzam knew this boy ain't killing him.

Myrdin

Balzam is definitely the father of the year candidate

Jasus

Rage against the heavens, gain strength, defeat the fiends and turn the legacy of the Magnos into chivalry, justice and everything your father despises.

Void Herald

I kinda imagine Balzam as a Palpatine like figure; someone who's an asshole on both a cosmic and petty scale, and with a very dark sense of humor.

BlaqBonez

I wont lie, lm starting to like his dad more and more. He's so comical evil thats its gone full circle. Now everytime he's on scene l wonder what hijicks did he do this time. l dont know if that was the vibe u were going for but lm here for it😂😂

Val

With love

Windjigo

What an asshole. Honesly, considering who were his two predecessor, Simon will have a hard time ever convincing anyone that he's not the biggest bastard the Earth has ever seen, which may "slightly" complicate diplomacy.

Lizy Flore

I want Simon to tear balzam’s legacy apart. Slowly.

Pradian

Balzam: they made you weak! Killed Balzam 17 times what does that make you Balzam? And that is why I didn't want to pick the romance route, that 1st love and that the smaller things could change things up, even worse if you have kids. At least firewand will be useful for making a fire accessory, maybe. 2 Slaves and Simon on an adventure, so excited.

Agoramon

Kept refreshing for this since yesterday, let's get this show on the road!
