[Comic] Remake of the 20 first pages or no?
🕑 Added 2023-06-07 21:44:30 +0000 UTCLatest page of my comic project, which started as a NSFW bonus chapter, has been posted in the late December 2022 (yeah, almost half a year... X.X).
In my previous post, I kinda explained why it stopped (Spoiler alert: Depression). Though, the project is not dead... And you know what? After my 2 objectives for June, I will plan to work on the final pages of my comic for July.
However, since then, some things have changed... My character design (for Keluna mostly) changed 3 times... even the artistic style changed, switching from Lineart + Soft shading, to Lineart + Cell shading, to Lineless Soft shading.
So, I questioned myself. Should I "remake" the 20 first pages to make sure to maintain harmony with my comic style? Or should I just assume the fact I first made this chapter as a test / pilot and just let the first pages as they were?
What's your opinion?
If I do decide to start a remake, I will probably work in this order : pg 21 / remake pg 01 / pg 22 / remake pg 02 / pg 23 / remake pg 03, etc... Note that if some of you are a bit hesitating, wishing to see the next pages before all, I could still make the "remake" pages AFTER the final page of the chapter (page 45) is done. This could be discussed later as well.

Well, I have 7 votes already and none of them are for "yes, do a remake", so... I guess we'll go with the next pages without remake. XP Not that I'll complain about it. ^^

I see the first chapter, is a test to see what works or not. All big comics have a chapter 0 or a pilot. So I would say take this first chapter as a pilot chapter. Would also be fun to look back later and see your progress.

Thanks for your feedback. Indeed, I think you're right. When I suggested this poll at first, I was thinking it would be great to do one new page, one remake page, etc... But you're right. I better finish at least this chapter before redo the first pages. This is what I think I'll do if I still want to do the remake... And the result of the poll encourages me to process this way too. ^^

I see. ^^ As a precision, I have no intention of deleting the original pages though. Just to suggest a complementary remake. But I hear you and understand your point of view. =)

Do as you wish, but i vote for “leave them be”. I kinda enjoy seeing how artists grow, part of what makes comics like Housepets and Twokinds fun is seeing how different the art is now vs at the start!
Honestly, do as your wish. If you'll feel better to remake this 20 pages, do it. Maybe it will be better to finish your comic first and then apply modifications. That's what I would do in your place. Because, personally, I need to finish things. If not, I give up. But I know you're not like me ^^
