Progress report and random Q&A's
🕑 Added 2018-05-23 17:10:26 +0000 UTC After finishing some small issues in the existing script, I'm now moving forward to finish Nina's route. It's surprisingly hard to estimate how long it will take because it will be the first "real" update. Until now I had all the time in the world to tweak things, so I can't really make any reliable time comparisons until I have actually finished this part. My rough time estimate to finish version 0.2 and Nina's route is 1-2 months, but I should be able to give better progress reports once I myself know more. I tend to improvise a lot as I write which can be a bad thing if someone (including me) wants to know in advance how things will turn out.Some other projects use progress indicators etc. to track their progress. I might do that at some point, but I have noticed that those progress bars have a bad habit of getting stuck when they reach 90%. Just like my Windows.
Other random points that have come up:
* 0.2 will have Nina's full route and her ending(s), but probably not much content for anyone else. This is to make sure you can get the complete experience with at least one girl, many people don't play or read "incomplete" visual novels. After this, I might either move my full focus to another girl or add a smaller amount of content for each girl. This is still an open question but I'm going to set up a vote about this at some point.
* I'm setting up a Discord server for all patrons. I checked out Pateron's instructions and the Discord integration seems easy enough to set up. I'll post more once it's up.
* Jane is not a romanceable character, but if she's popular enough I might add some scenes for her, too.

This is exactly how I feel about it. I don't pledge support for "rewards", I pledge because I enjoy a dev's work and want to help them continue. I've supported some dev's that started changing their games via polls and the games suffered for it - badly. Stick to your vision for the story line and characters.

One thing you also might consider is that you do content as it interests you. I know that sounds incredibly simplistic, but bear with me. It's often a little too easy to fall into the trap of trying to please your supporters. I mean, they ARE paying you and therefore you should be listening to them, right? Except, the reason they are paying you is because of your creative vision and execution. Listening is fine. Even incorporating ideas is fine. But, if it starts to feel like a "job", like you're working for someone else, maybe you get a little bored. Or disinterested. Or whatever. That is surely going to show up in the work and in a creative environment, any of those things can spell death. So, yeah, do polls if it helps you, but make sure you're doing what you want, too. Because a lot of us really liked what you kicked off and we've plunked our money down as a sign of faith, not as a demand of personal fiat.
