They know the earrings symbolize something and are important to the demons, but no one bothers to mention them anymore since they won't talk about their meaning!

The Captain is treating Al with a degree of respect that other deny him. I'm sure that's to put him off guard but it may also signal her ability to understand what Al is up to. The two things we know are, he's not here by accident, and he's not here to harm Ethan.
