I understand. Indeed it's a hard task. Consider: 1. If you know how to animate in Grease Pencil (2D) and 3D in general, your value as an animator ranks up. 2. You may check the past post (here on my Patreon) where I share the general anime document (with Japanese terms) so you know how to deal with animation director's guide in the studio. 3. Keep learning. Either if you work on the US / Internationally / JP, having a solid animation skill is always a plus.

what realistic chance is there for an american who cant even speak Japanese? this seems like a long shot even if you do have the skills but not the language.
