No, no... I see it too... ... THIS REQUIRES RESEARCH! Okay, I may have bookmarked the start of all the smexy scenes in the webcomic so far...FOR RESEARCH PURPOSES! And I think you're totally right! <3 See, Al has DIMPLES. And those dimples seem to show up when he's smiling in that "I'm totally getting some" kind of way like in the last panel on this page http://ea.asmodrawscomics.com/comic/part-3-pg-265/ or in the "we are going to WRECK this bed" kind of way in the last panel on this page. http://ea.asmodrawscomics.com/comic/part-2-pg-195/ All the moments when he's smiling that soft smile, though? No dimples. And his eyebrows are relaxed, not contorted to form any kind of specific expression, not putting on faces for Ethan's viewing, just... there. And it seems.. like when that open, relaxed smile comes up... it seems he's mostly watching Ethan lose himself. Like the bottom middle panel here http://ea.asmodrawscomics.com/comic/part-2-pg-194/ or the top middle panel here. http://ea.asmodrawscomics.com/comic/part-3-pg-268/ The fact that now, in this panel, Al is looking straight into Ethan's eyes when he is completely lucid and showing him that smile, I think you are totally right about Al being more genuine, about ALLOWING himself to be vulnerable in that moment, even if only subconsciously. ... ...and now... I have to go back... to... research...

That smile on the last panel. Not sure how intentional it was, but it feels a lot more genuine and in a way, vulnerable, than his usual cocky smirking and grinning. It somehow tells me he truly appreciates Ethan and that he cared enough about him to listen and not run away. Though maybe I am just reading waaaay too much into this comic ^^ :|
