When I was considering the composition and tone for this cover, I knew I wanted it to be in stark contrast to the other covers for this story, which were all relatively dark and somewhat foreboding visually:
This time, Al stands facing forward, sort of mirroring Ethan standing alone in the first chapter cover, but now we're standing behind him. There's a lot of mixed emotions for me in drawing this cover, though it looks pretty simple in design, haha. As you probably know, a tempest is a violent and windy storm, and friends, it's headed straight at us! Have some faith in the boys though, I won't give them more than they can handle. Mostly. ( ° ロ°)
