This was my first time watching this. I found it a bit short and, honestly, a little disturbing. Guess that’s the tradeoff with the theatrical cut—shorter runtime, but it also leaves out a lot of the more controversial content I’ve heard is in the longer version. Jean and Gary were incredible at playing different kinds of psychos in this one! Also, a really cool start for Natalie Portman. I noticed Éric Serra’s name in the opening credits and instantly remembered he scored GoldenEye. He basically used the same soundtrack for both movies, including that famous tambourine sound. When Mathilda is walking alone and takes the cable car, you can actually hear the end credits song from GoldenEye. It’s called “The Game Is Over” in Léon and “The Experience of Love” in GoldenEye. That title hits differently after seeing this movie.
