She is at that stage where she might walk around and not draw too much attention. She won't stand out too much in a crowd, since she isn't much taller than a regular girl, and she finds comfort in that. Most people want to have a sense of belonging, be like everyone else and not be seen as "the other" or "one of them". This is something that might be going through Makayla's head at this stage. Lets remember she was a regular girl only weeks ago, and now she is different, living in a different city, and now a new school. Everything is changing so fast. She still thinks of herself as just "one of the girls" and is afraid she might not get to be that anymore.
