It's more like I didn't really examine my beliefs at the time. My deconversion was more that I just stopped going to church. I look at my coming out as bi as the milestone of the break, but it really was more gradual. And the "young Earth" stuff is PERNICIOUS. They really hammer in "evolution = EVIL" and anyone that believes in it is a moron and going to hell.

@Grace, I can't quite wrap my mind around your thought process, but that makes a certain sense to me. Obviously, Joyce isn't real, but I assume Willis is drawing a lot from their own experiences with "atheist growing pains". It's an entire world view and web of beliefs to deconstruct. I'd also be interested to hear more if you're willing to share.
