Sure, but he and Joyce were (ostensibly) monogamous so I don't think it was that out there to think he might be upset that once he does decide to give the monogamy thing the ole college try (pun intended) it ends up being cheated on. Maybe something about how Joe was so worried about ending up like his dad he didn't anticipate being in his mom's position. Like I said, I don't think this is out of character for Joe (I mean, the guy LITERALLY made up threesomes to boost his cred), but I don't think that it would've been if he had been upset either. That said, I definitely thought polyamory was a possibility. I thought it might be a bumpier road to get there but this was definitely an endpoint I thought was possible

There has also, been an outstanding amount of foreshadowing towards a Joyce/Joe/Dorothy polycule and i cannot bring up every example but people thinking Joe would be really upset over the cheating miss the point that his answer to his dads infidelity isn't to become strictly monogamous but to deconstruct the concepts that caused so much hurt for his family to begin with. See the open relationship bit with his dad awhile back.
