he wasn't apologizing for defending himself, he was more apologizing for dirtying the floor and for smelling pretty bad. You know, he was apologizing for being an imposition and by being there in that house. When not in battle you try to behave better.

I enjoyed the reaction. Katsumoto on several occasions contemplated on killing himself (seppuku ritual) as the honorable exit. Algren told him the story of the battle of Thermopylae to convince him to die in battle instead. I recommend the movie '300' (2006) a very iconic film.

Basically the Age of Chivalry in general. The relationship of the Samurai to war and economics in Feudal Japan was extremely similar to the same with Knights in Feudal Europe, and those ideas were borrowed upon heavily.

This is one of my favorite movies, I've watched it countless times, and I tear up every time. The music, the acting, the editing, the cinematography, the sound design, they're all so amazing, you just can't help it!

He was asking about the 300 Spartans. When Algren said, "Dead to the last man, he meant the Spartans". So basically they would lose. That's why he smiled. Honourable death in battle.

This movie is so stunning in so many ways. I first rented to DVD and after returning it I bought my own copy. All of the Japanese actors and even the historians happy and grateful that this kind of story was made about the Samurai. I believe that when Algren learned how to speak Japanese, it was not to impress them, but totally out of respect. My two favorite lines are, “I will tell you how he lived.” and “I do know it is here, that I have known my first untroubled sleep in many years.” (That’s the kind of peace we all hope to find) This was a fantastic way to start the weekend. Great reaction! I hadn't watched this one in a while and that's always fun. The scene near the beginning when he says the troops aren't ready, and then challenges the trainee to shoot him to prove it, took me to Mathew Broderick in Glory (1989), I would definitely vote for that one. Other big names and academy performances as well, I just don't want to say who because it's fun to me when a reactor recognizes their newly favorite actors in a movie,

Happy Friday, Addie! 😊 This is one of my favorite of Tom Cruise's fairy recent movies. Although it has been a while since I've seen it. What I do remember I really liked. Looking forward to revisiting this movie later this evening. Two other great Tom Cruise movies that I highly recommend are: "The Outsiders" from 1983 and "Cocktail" from 1988.
