Christmas Vacation is very entertaining but It's a Wonderful Life is everything that Christmas is.

Every year I watch "It's a Wonderful Life" on Christmas Eve. I know, I know. It's a very traditional thing for a lot of people. But it really is one of the best Christmas movies of all time. I don't think you can watch that movie and not feel an immense feeling of "christmas" at the end. At the moment, it's running second. And of course Christmas Vacation is a great movie too. But if you don't get around to reacting to It's a Wonderful Life, do yourself a favor and just watch it this christmas eve with your partner. Knowing that you've seen it will fill us all with that joy, too. And I think you'll agree that there is a good reason people consider it a classic!
