The thing that baffles me most is that Addie now has over 800 patrons here, but yet there are only just over 500 votes in this poll so far... and I guarantee you that many people - including myself - cast multiple votes -- which can't help but make me wonder why the fuck anyone would join a Patreon if they didn't want to have some kind of genuine voice in what the reactor in question ends up watching?? 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Hopefully you do a poll regarding straight pure action movies. My suggestions include Speed (1994), The Rock (1996), Con Air (1997), Ronin (1998), Enemy of the State (1998) & Gone in 60 Seconds (2000). Feel free to add others to the mix as well.

Admittedly, my only familiarity with "Dune" is having seen the last third of David Lynch's '84 adaptation when it was on TV one time. Given that it's definitely not considered the best presentation of the IP (not to mention it being almost universally considered Lynch's weakest film), I'm probably not the best advise on which to go. Even so, it still made me not feel compelled to pursue this apparently much more faithful adaptation. I do love "Arrival," though.

I would categorize Armageddon and Deep Impact as more disaster movies and maybe insert something like District 9 (2009), Oblivion (2013), Contact (1997), The Abyss (1989), Elysium (2013).

Sci-fi is a hypothetical look into the future of our own society -- often presented in the form of a cautionary tale. Traditional fantasy is a story set in a completely fictitious world not meant to be our own (though *modern* fantasy like Harry Potter muddies those waters a bit).

While I'd prefer you finishing the "Kung Fu Panda" and "Godfather" trilogies before moving on to anything else (maybe finally that last "Beverly Hills Cop" movie as well), at least most of these are standalone movies... and those that aren't probably aren't going to win. I know I'm very much in the minority, but I found both "Arrival" and "Dune" to be extremely boring. They each had good things going for them ("Arrival" has a very interesting premise and "Dune" is beautifully shot), but I found myself losing interest. Maybe I'll change my mind with a rewatch (looking at the current poll numbers, we'll likely get one or both in the not too distant future).

The Dune novels are the Lord of the Rings of sci-fi novels, and the 2021 Dune movie is the LotR of sci-fi movies.

Definitely had to vote for Dune because it is an absolute masterpiece and the sequel comes out early next year. I also had to put a vote in for Tron because I don't think it gets nearly enough love. The original 1982 film definitely feels dated but I love it all the same. Plus I think you'd really enjoy the sequel, Tron: Legacy.

Start with 'Blade Runner' so you can get through Denis Villeneuve's films and eventually watch 'Dune'. His films are amazing, not just the films themselves, but some of the shots in his films are just incredible to look at.
