I feel as though "Love Actually" has become, along with "The Notebook," sort of the "Citizen Kane" for utterly hopeless romantics. I do agree with Bill, though, that the lack of curiosity regarding any art/entertainment prior to one's birth has become an increasingly alarming problem in our society. 😔

For me, Albert Finney gives the definitive Scrooge performance in the 1970 musical adaptation -- particularly impressive given that he was still fairly young and was acting through age makeup for much of the movie.

The question is, will she also watch "The Muppet Christmas Carol," given that both it and "Scrooged" are adaptations of the Dickens novella? And, like "Oppenheimer," it's currently substantially behind the frontrunner. (I'm predicting we get "Gremlins" today; there's a fairly small window for holiday movies on YT, so if she wants to get in 4-6 of them like last year...)

All of these seem like fun, but I will be glad if we get Scrooged. And the great thing about Christmas favorites is that this poll will almost certainly be back next year, so almost everyone gets to see their favorites eventually.

I watched Muppet Christmas Carol on Saturday and I'm still humming the songs. That's because they were written by Paul Williams, one of the greats and a staple of 1970s panel and game shows. Talk about a classic! Oh, and Michael Caine never looks like he's playing against puppets. OK, a little at the end with the happy songs. 😀

I agree that _Love Actually_ is a delightful Christmas rom-com, but how can anyone not vote for one of the *original* iconic Christmas movies: _Miracle on 34th Street_, which came out in 1947 just one year after _It's a Wonderful Life_? Sigh. 😐

The Muppets have just never felt the same to me post-Jim Henson. Something has nearly always felt a bit 'off' in their projects minus his guiding hand... and "Christmas Carol" was the first without him. Of course, that movie also came out when I was in junior high and 'too good' for kiddie movies at that time...

Funny that you should say that! You and I appear to be roughly the same age, and I have nothing but fond memories of watching _The Muppet Show_ in the late 1970s! OTOH, I never did see _The Muppet Christmas Carol_, so perhaps I would agree with you!

muppet christmas is horrible, but I wasnt born in the 90s, so I was from the era of the classics, 1938 a christmas carol with Reginald Owen is my favorite

If you don't watch it for the channel, I hope you watch Kiss Kiss Bang Bang on your own. It's so crazy fun and funny and unpredictable. Just a wonder of a movie.

I hold Jingle All The Way a special place in my heart. I personally like Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and think will offer a better reaction for certain moments I'm surprised you haven't seen Love Actually or The Holiday both great romcoms. The Holiday showed me that Jack Black has a surprisingly great range as an actor.

Speaking of adaptions, I wish more people could see the 1999 version with Patrick Stewart. My personal favorite and the best Ebenezer we've had on the screen, though I wouldn't deny there is some bias there.

Scrooged should easily win and I have no problem with that. A Muppet Christmas Carol is one of the best adaptations of A Christmas Carol story. There is also an extended version of the movie that includes a well loved song by fans of the movie. When it was removed a lot of people were disappointed. This fan is happy it’s included again.
