I know I mentioned/recommended Klaus the other month but mentioning it again. I highly recommend it. I just watched Christmas with the Kranks yesterday at my parents. Also, no Christmas movie list would be complete without the best Christmas movie of all time, Die Hard.

(The Bishop`s Wife) 1947 Cary Grant, (Miracle On 34 th Street) 1947, (Scrooge) 1951 Alistair Sim, these I try to watch as close to Xmas Eve as possible. If you have not seen it yet. I find (White Xmas) 1954 Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney & Vera Ellen, a wonderful Xmas Day film. Others I enjoy are (The Shop Around The Corner) 1940 Margaret Sullavan & James Stewart. (The Man Who Came To Dinner) 1941 Bette Davis & Monty Wooley. (March Of The Wooden Soldiers) 1934 Best version of Babes In Toyland, Laurel & Hardy. (Trading Places) 1983 Eddie Murphy & Dan Aykroyd. (A Mom For Xmas) 1990 Olivia Newton John & Doris Roberts. (Home Alone 2 : Lost In New York) 1992. (While You Where Sleeping) 1995 Sandra Bullock & Bill Pullman. (The Long Kiss Goodnight) 1996 Geena Davis & Samuel L. Jackson. (Home Alone 3) 1998 different family with Young Scarlett Johansson, not as well rated but I enjoy it. Two films I believe are a continuation of Doris Roberts character from (A Mom For Xmas), are (Mrs. Miracle) 2009 James Van Der Beek & Erin Karpluk. (Call Me Mrs. Miracle) 2010 Jewel Staite & Lauren Holly. Finally, two other`s I have enjoyed but like Home Alone 3 they are lower rated, are (Xmas With The Kranks) 2004 Tim Allen & Jamie Lee Curtis. (Unaccompanied Minors) 2006. Hope this helps.

Addie, Please do Daddy's home 2. I know it's a sequel, but i actually that one before the first one and u don't need to see the first to enjoy it . it's very fun and the year i bought it i saw it 6 times that Holiday Season. You will love it. Also , please watch Jingle all the Way. it's hilarious and heart-warming.

Elf, The Santa Clause (only one and two are worth watching) and Home Alone are pretty solid movie choices for Christmas and are common Christmas staples. All of them are comedies so you should enjoy them. Personally I'd recommend Bad Santa(only the first one) and Fat Man. Bad Santa is a crude comedy and it's rated R. Fat Man is not well known and is about a kid who gets coal for Christmas so hires a hit man to kill Santa. Fat Man is rated R and straddles the line between being genius and campy.

The 1951 version of A Christmas Carol with Alastair Sim. This is by far my favorite, but the version with George C. Scott is good. And if you are a Star Trek or X-Men fan there is also a.version with Patrick Stewart. But like I said, I think the Alastair Sim version is the best. Being in black & white gives it an atmosphere that is perfect for the story. I’d avoid the colorized version. The 1940’s A Miracle on 34th Street is also very good.

I would recommend 'Jingle All the Way', its not very good, but its a guilty pleasure and it has Arnold it in so that's a plus... and yes, has some memorable and quotable lines. Although its not a Christmas film, 'Planes, Trains, and Automobiles' is a holiday classic and John Candy is a national treasure, RIP. I also have to highly recommend 'Krampus', its a modern classic, a holiday themed horror comedy that has no right to be as great as it is. The practical effects are top notch.

"Home Alone 2" is basically the same movie as the first, albeit just relocated to NYC. I'd rather she do a re-watch of the first one first. Also, "Jingle All the Way," despite being filmed in the Twin Cities metro area where I live, it's frankly a bit past my time; one particular moment honestly remains one of the most intelligence-insulting moments I've ever seen in a movie. 🤔

In addition to the ones already suggested in the comments, if you want to go in a totally other direction, there's the infamously terrible Santa Claus Conquers the Martians, which you could either watch the original or (probably even better) watch the MST3K version where they make fun of the film the entire time. 😄 (I can't speak to how easy or hard it is to find the original to watch, but the MST3K spoof version appears to be available via streaming service.)

Honestly, the second "Home Alone" movie is pretty much the same as the first -- just relocated to NYC. I'd rather she re-watch the first one before venturing into that one, especially given that I feel it's kind of awkward when a reactor doesn't start a franchise from the very beginning. 🤷‍♂️

Honestly, Addie, you've already seen a lot of the really good Christmas movies! But here are a few good holiday(ish) movies that it sounds like you haven't seen that you'd hopefully like. - Miracle on 34th Street (1947), it's one of the top classic Christmas movies of all time - Trading Places (1983), a very funny Christmas-adjacent movie (i.e. same category Die Hard) - The Holdovers (2023), a more recent holiday movie that got very good reviews - Batman Returns (1992), surprisingly this kind of fits both the holiday theme AND as the sequel to Batman that was on the channel a few weeks ago! - The original How the Grinch Stole Christmas (1966). I can't speak to that Jim Carey movie but the original is a classic! P.S. If we're also including Thanksgiving, then throw in Hannah and her Sisters (1986), it's an academy award winning comedy centered around Thanksgiving gettogethers. P.P.S. Oops, looks like you saw Edward Scissorhands, I took that one off.
