What a great movie. Just to answer the trivia question, there are 34 cuts in the film, almost all of them are just very carefully concealed. 🙂 I think the longest uncut section is about 10 minutes? (It runs from the time Schofield exits the truck all the way through when he crosses the bridge, gets shot at, gets into the building and then kills the sniper but gets shot in the process.)

What I enjoyed so much about this movie is that it never switched to a different scene with other actors and settings. So very unique. What I did notice this time watching is that they would circle around the actors so they could introduce a different scene and location.

this is also one of my favourite war movies! the lead is also in a great movie called Captain Fantastic.. and it's... just fantastic, what can I say? I'd say if you like this movie and the Lord of the Rings (which I know you do) you're gonna love Captain Fantastic!

This is one of my favorite war films. I really wish World War I was given more attention by Hollywood, there are other good WWI movies like War Horse, All Quiet on the Western Front and The Lost Battalion, but it really had a lot more impact on the modern world than a lot of people would think it did. I’m also just really disappointed I was born too late to meet any WWI veterans, there were a handful left when I was younger, but not enough for me to get to meet any. I do have a close friend though whose grandfather lost his arm the first day on the Somme in 1916.

Road to Perdition is one of my favorite gangster movies of all time and Jarhead is a great comedy, especially for anyone who’s been in the military.

Happy Friday, Addie. I'm glad that you enjoyed 1917 (2019). This is one of my favorite war movies, especially given the cinematography, which was shot and edited as of it were a oner. If you thought you felt like you were right beside Blake and Schofield, then imagine seeing this movie in IMAX 1.90:1, with 26% more picture filling the screen at the top and bottom. That's EXACTLY how my dad & I saw this movie.

Other noteworthy films that give the impression that it was shot all in one take: "Birdman (or, The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)" and Alfred Hitchcock's "Rope" (his first color film, incidentally).
