It's for you to sync your copy of the movie with hers.

Why is there a countdown on the screen?

Can't believe I never noticed the Happy Gilmore reference with the golf scene or the Tommy Boy references in the Dan Aykroyd scene where it mentions Callahan Auto in Sandusky, Ohio.

Well, if Addie starts watching romance movies all year round, I'd expect the same for horror movies. π

Yes, Sandler and Barrymore have good chemistry, which is why I feel this and "The Wedding Singer" aren't nearly as bad as other ultra-broad Sandler vehicles like "Billy Madison," "Happy Gilmore," "Big Daddy," or "Little Nicky." But they still pale in comparison to more specifically-written roles for him like "Punch-Drunk Love;" "Spanglish;" or "Men, Women and Children." I feel this is a trap a lot of SNL alums fall into -- Will Ferrell being another example.

One of my all time βFeel Good Moviesβ and I agree Sandler and Barrymore are great together. Another similar rom-com movie is Just Go With It (2011). This one Sandler teams up with Jennifer Aniston in Hawaii. No Spam and Peanut Butter Cups in this one, but just as funny.

"First rom com" as in a more straightforward one.

"First rom com for the channel" - I think The Princess Bride and Groundhog Day would like a word. π

First time seeing this one. I'm not much of an Adam Sandler comedy fan typically but this was a cute movie, I'd say 7/10 for me. Definitely better than the 45% it has on Rotten Tomatoes. π Of the Adam Sandler films I've seen so far, I think this would be my number 3 maybe? (I like Uncut Gems and Hotel Transylvania better than this, but I like this a bit better than a bunch of his other comedies.) On the plus side I liked Barrymore and Sandler as a couple in this, and the story does go in some unexpected directions. What brings it down a bit for me is it feels like it can't make up its mind if it wants to be a charming heartfelt romantic comedy or a gross out slapstick comedy. It's almost like if Jim Carey tried to make a movie that was half Dumb and Dumber and half Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. They're both entertaining movies in their own way but if you just mashed them together it would probably be a mess! So yeah, it was a fun movie, but I felt like it missed out on being a better by not being able to decide what type of movie it really wanted to be.

Rom-Coms arenβt just for Feb/Valentineβs. Theyβre good all year around. This will be a great movie to start your RC collection.

Adam Sandler does rom-com well

Enjoyed this one. Still like Wedding Singer more. Same chemistry between them here and a sweet story but hard to beat Wedding Singer for its better supporting cast and nostalgia.

For the "more stupid" Adam Sandler movies, I'd recommend Billy Madison (1995), Bulletproof (1996), The Waterboy (1998), Mr. Deeds (2002), Anger Management (2003), Click (2006), Grown-ups (2010), Grown-ups 2 (2013), Jack & Jill (2011), Hubie Halloween (2020), and Happy Gilmore 2 (2025). #MoreAdamSandlerForAddieCounts

I second Big Daddy (1999). That's one of my favorite Adam Sandler movies. #BigDaddyForAddieCounts https://youtu.be/jxnccxgybUI?feature=shared

Given that the world population has more than doubled in just the last 50 years, I hope not. π€

For less stupid Adam Sandler movies, I'd recommend "Punch-Drunk Love" and "Spanglish."

Happy Wednesday, Addie! π This is one of my favorite Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore movies. And it's one of my 'go-to feel good' movies. Another Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore team up movie that I very highly recommend is the 2014 "Blended". Definitely looking forward to watching this later this evening. Have a great day today! π

Happy Wednesday, Addie. I'm so glad that you enjoyed 50 First Dates (2004) as your VERY FIRST rom-com for your channel. I've been to the filming location for this movie, which is Kualoa Ranch in Honolulu, Hawaii, which is where I was on vacation, back in September. They even have a statue of Willie the Penguin there. You & Jeremy should take a tour of the Kualoa Ranch if you ever wanna take a Hawaiian vacation. I've never seen this movie before but I plan on watching it either tonight or at some point this week.
