Tough to pick a favorite Coen brothers movie. This one would be in my top 5. I'd also include 'The Hudsucker Proxy' with Tim Robbins.

If the Coen Brothers' more comic outings are to your taste then you should add Raising Arizona to your list. It is the movie that made me a Nicolas Cage fan both for his manic energy and for his brilliant understated narration. Its also got Holly Hunter and John Goodman, with Frances McDormand in a supporting role but no less brilliant than she was in Fargo. A not uncommon theme for the Coens is to make a classic genre film and cast it with characters who are less than competent compared with typical movie characters. Burn After Reading is a great example of a spy thriller starring Clooney as a Treasury agent and John Malkovich as a CIA agent in a story set in suburban Washington DC. It also features McDormand, Brad Pitt, Tilda Swinton, Richard Jenkins, and JK Simmons as the head of the CIA.

Addie THIS is seriously one of my favorite films and your reaction was WONDERFUL. I love the music, the cast, the twists and turns....LOVE it all I would like to point out a historical inaccuracy: The film is set in 1937; George Nelson was killed in a shootout with law enforcement in 1934. Have you seen any of the Christopher Guest mockumentaries? I think you would enjoy those. MY personal favorite is named A Mighty Wind and part of the reason is that it has a ton of great music that was composed specifically for the movie. I highly recommend it.

This is my favorite of all the Coen Bros movies—though many of them are tied for second place. I actually have 2 songs from this movie in the music library on my phone: “I am a Man of Constant Sorrow” (of course) and “Hard Time Killing Floor Blues”. That’s the song Tommy sang by the camp fire with the boys. That guitar lick was wicked. This may be my favorite Addie reaction so far. Her imitating Pete’s “Soggy Bottom” dance was the clincher. That was “bona fide”. LOL

Yeah, "True Grit" is sort of middle-of-the-road Coens for me... though I will say, as far as I know, not that many other channels have reacted to it. And I'm also biased toward "Raising Arizona," given that it's my favorite of their films, but I'm sure Addie will react to it eventually -- especially given how much she's loved their more comedic efforts.

'No Country for Old Men" is one of my favorite films. 2007 was a great year in film in general. Since you liked the Cohen brothers so much, I would recommend 'Raising Arizona' as your next watch. Controversial, I know but the 'True Grit' remake is highly overrated in my opinion.

Tim Blake Nelson does his own singing on "In the Jailhouse Now," but otherwise he, Clooney, and Turturro are dubbed by professional singers. The soundtrack to this album actually became a national phenomenon, BTW. Chris Thomas King (Tommy) is an actual blues singer, and. thus, also does his own singing. Some of the characters the trio encounters on their journey were real-life people (Tommy Johnson, Baby Face Nelson, and Pappy O'Daniel -- well, the latter is loosely based on a person of the same name). Also, happy belated birthday! 🎉
