This one is ok, 7.5 out of 10. π I like the look of the movie more than Addie, but on the other hand it felt a little too long for some reason. By around the 80 minute mark I found myself looking at the time left and thinking "huh, this one is longer than I thought" which isn't a good thing. Jason Mamoa is great as usual, so that's a plus. Honestly I liked most of the cast except ironically Willem Defoe felt like he was a little off key somehow, which is unusual for him. π€·ββοΈ Among the DCEU movies I've seen, I'd say this is probably a little above the average (better than the Superman films, Batman v Superman, and Suicide Squad for example but not as good as Wonder Woman, The Suicide Squad, or Shazam!) I'd also say it's maybe slightly better than Wakanda Forever which featured Namor, Marvel's version of the King of the Seas (but again, it's close, I'd say that one is 7 out of 10). So all in all this is one I'd say was worth watching, but I don't feel a need to rewatch it any time soon. P.S. I did like that there was a copy of The Dunwich Horror on the table in the lighthouse at the start of the movie. As soon as I saw that I thought to myself "huh, this must be foreshadowing Deep Ones or something", and ... yeah, that's pretty much what The Trench was. π

So Arthur gets to be king because the statue gave him the trident? Look, strange statues lying in the ocean distributing tridents is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony. You can't expect to wield supreme executive power just because some wet stone threw a trident at you. If I went around saying I was emperor just because some moistened bint lobbed a scimitar at me, they'd put me away!

Happy Monday, Addie. I'm glad that you still enjoyed Aquaman (2018), despite feeling conflicted with the color grading. I saw this movie in IMAX with my dad and we both enjoyed it. In case you're wondering why the aspect ratio opens up for 92 minutes of the movie, then that's how it looked in IMAX, making the Atlantean landscape look HUGE.
