but you might notice that I now need to render the bench press with him. This is not a good sign. I need to do that otherwise there is no way to prevent character layers from overlapping the background and other characters and breaking the perspective.
The bigger the characters get, the more often I need to use such tricks but there are actual limits to how much I can move the characters around and make them fit.
It is difficult at 7', worse at 8' and I might have to re-scope the project for Beta and Release and make the Height level cap permanently set to 25. (8'1")
That's the trade-off we might have to live with in order to keep seeing the characters up close and not far-off in the scene.

I thought of something like that but it always ends up requiring re-rendering the whole library multiple times with different scales. Also, that would mostly work only for conversation renders which are not the most problematic, location scenes would have disproportionate props...

you could play with the perspective so that at higher Height levels the shorter of the two characters is render smaller
