Happy Day 1! Post here on the Patron-only 100 Days thread
🕑 Added 2025-02-28 13:00:17 +0000 UTC{Patron-only post}
Aloha, Patrons!
It is now March 1st in some parts of the world, and for anyone who's embarking on this 100 Days of Ukulele journey with us, Happy Day 1! For more info on all things 100 Days 2025, read this informational post and watch the project live chat.
I wanted to offer an option for folks who aren't on social media to post somewhere private, so we're going to use this post as a Patron-only thread for posting. If you are on social media, those platforms might be easier for you to upload videos and connect with your fellow project participants. If you'd like to try posting here, please know that it's an experiment, and we'll shape it based on those who participate. Remember that this is your project, and you can post anywhere that's convenient for you, and you are encouraged to build community wherever you'd like to see it!
We'll follow the same rules as our 100 Days facebook group (which has been managed with care by Jenny and the admins and moderators team, so we have them to thank for their leadership!):
Positive, supportive comments only. We are nurturing artists in development!
Project-related daily progress posts only. Start your comment with "Day x:". We also have a 100 Days chat thread that could be used for...chatting. :)
You will need to upload your video to another site (an unlisted YouTube, or your own drive) and then post the link in the comments. You can add some commentary about your daily post, but please keep it relevant to the project. This post can only be seen and commented on by other Patrons. I imagine we will use this post until it becomes difficult to navigate the comments, and then we can start a new post or move to the chat or evaluate other options.
Good luck, and see you on the journey!
xo cynthia.

I'm total newbie and have been trying to learn this song for the project. I love your arrangement, and notice that your chords are different — are you playing this in another key? and, if so, could you please share the chords with me?

Karin
Thank you for this beautiful piece of music. I have to admit, I haven't listened to a lot of classical ukulele music until now.
Karin
Thanks for sharing your experiences in the different areas of music making with us. There is a lot to learn and to think about, beyond technical issues.

I plan to work on a new piece every week, then post a video of where I’m at with it at the end of the week. So this is my Day 8 post, Bransle de Champagne by Adrian Le Roy, using an arrangement by Samantha Muir for baritone guitar: https://vimeo.com/1063759059
Janelle Durham
My original plan for the challenge was that each day I was going to make a video which included the lyrics and the chords for the song. I've quickly learned that was too ambitious! Especially for a really long song like Barrett's Privateers, I spent more time working on the lyrics and chord notations than I spent actually playing ukulele, which is not the goal! So, I'm shifting my plan to put the focus more on the playing and less on the video making. But, for what it's worth, here's Barrett's Privateers by Stan Rogers with all the lyrics and chords marked out! https://youtu.be/AtpNrF8NvdM?t=45
Tamara Lester
I'm glad you posted. I'm a beginner, too, and only posted once on FB (before I was banished from FB!) I am inspired by the wonderful playing of those far more experienced, but remind myself that I'm practicing for "me" to see my own progress over the 100 days. I "think" I see it even after this first week. I hope you do, too.
Tamara Lester
Nice picking pattern and chords.. Watched a few times..I wish I could slow it down and watch even more closely.

Glad to have found this link to post instead of FB. I joined FB for the 100 Days group only, and account was "Disabled" by FB with no explanation. Thanks for the info on how to upload videos. I am a beginner's beginner, so it might just be a video of simply practicing strumming. 😊. I really enjoy all your posts and find them so inspiring.
Karin
I read your description. The technique was quite complicated for me ... but the music sounds all the more relaxed. Nice to hear.
Karin
Maybe I'm wrong ... I was looking for "Welcome in another year" and found "Can't let go" (which is nice, too).
Karen B
Your strumming pattern sounds really good on your beautiful blue uke

I like the way you play and sing the song. And I like the three little heroes sitting behind you.

Day 2: Hi, just found out about the challenge today and wanted to hop in: https://youtu.be/UBhNo4XyuFg?si=i1anO5Rkl4gk0SFq A bit about me: I started playing in March 2016 but have been fairly inconsistent with my practice. I would describe myself as self taught as I’ve learned through YouTube tutorials, other online resources and books. Late last year I started going to a music performance group that meets monthly, we usually have 2 turns each at performing a song. My goals for the project: not sure. I think I want to try 100 songs but might not have time for a new one every day! I’ll have a think. Off to watch some other group members’ vids!
Mary Whaley
Nice job Karen.
