Stepping up my game

Many of you will know that I became a freelancer since more than a half a year ago. I took the risk to leave my not-so-badly paid regular job and, even though I'm still working on a contract basis for some old customers, it was a tough decision to make considering I'm the sole provider for my family of four humans and two cats.
I'm not looking back. You people have made possible for both of us, Kuja and me, being able to have prospects of living from this and do what we actually like to do, a fact that is awesome by itself.
However, working at home has revealed to be not so convenient as I thought at first... so I'm going to be honest and say that, even though I'm spending many hours per day in front of the computer, distractions abound in this house. I have two little daughters that make a lot of noise... and that's just the tip of the iceberg. Let's just say that Real Life hits harder when you're "available", okay?
So, from next week onwards I'm going to move my computer to a permanent desktop at a nice co-working office, to enhance my focus on development and make a real difference in new versions delivery times.
I should mention that, obviously, that place isn't free of charge, but it isn't an expensive price to pay to take another step into a more professional approach to developing games without messing my personal life, which is happening now that I cannot clearly define bounds between working hours and family.
The main idea behind this is that I work eight productive hours, instead of twelve scattered along the day. Oh, and it would also be awesome to regain a normal sleeping schedule...

"Slowly but surely" should be our motto, yup. At any rate, what I'm trying to optimize here is the time I spend in front of the computer, which is a lot, but not always I'm really focused and yeah, that's because of the "background noise". ;-)

If my estimation is any good, it should be ready for the second half of March. About working hours, I'm hoping that being at the office I end up deciding to stay as long as I'm comfortable spending time there. That would mean not looking at the clock every five minutes, yeah. ^_^

Sounds like you two have taken on a bit more than you can handle and are trying to do too much at once. Take it slow. I feel comfortable in speaking for everyone when I say we appreciate your effort, but if you need to scale back then please do so. You won't accomplish much if anything if you're working yourself to the point where it's affecting your mental health and family life. With that said, I know how it feels. Trying to get a college degree at the age of 30 with a wife and kid under the same roof was absolutely miserable and it was pushing me to the point where I'd be lying if I said I didn't think about jumping off the roof of every tall building I came across.

I would suggest keeping hours flexible. I mean, you can always decide to spend a minimum of 6 - 8 hours and potentially work a couple more if home is quiet. But most importantly, do whatever you feel most comfortable and productive with. Regarding this update I have a question though: Is there a general window we can expect the next version in? Back late 2017 you said February. Is it gonna be beginning or end of March now? Or later? Information would be appreciated.

Heh... well, I can't speak about others when I'm the first one not being as quick as I'd like. At any rate, not taking for granted *anything* in life is a good and wise advice. ;-)

Thank you! We will never fully stop. I'll admit I'm not at 100% of effectiveness right now, but I'm positive very good things will come out of moving to that place.

Your problem is understandable and I support your decision. Many projects on patreon take their monthly pledges for granted and wont provide steady updates. #FuckSimBro
