Hmm... depends on how fast the KIM-1 can output on its serial port. You can write games for VT-100 output, even action games as some games on CP/M prove. I would think that the scrolling would be a bit choppy tough, even if the KIM-1 can somehow manage 33.6. ^^'

Ryan Helinski

Understood, thanks for the information. I have been thinking about buying an 800, but I am also patiently waiting for the Commander X16 :^)

The 8-Bit Guy

That would be.... challenging to say the least.

I'm looking forward to the Kim-1 compatible version. :D

The 8-Bit Guy

Obviously it's untested as I don't have a 400 with a memory mod on it. But in theory, it should work with the same adapter that has been tested on the other Atari machine.

Ryan Helinski

The keyboard on the 400 is pretty horrible. Will you be supporting an SNES controller on the Atari 8-bit machines?

The 8-Bit Guy

Yes, indeed! Petscii Robots is one of my proudest achievements!

The 8-Bit Guy

I should think it would work. But keep in mind this game is played on the keyboard or an SNES adapter. So the keyboard on the 400 would be miserable.

Mikeybg

Damn I wish I still had my atari 400.

Ryan Helinski

I only have a 400 with the stock amount of RAM. I have a kit for upgrading the memory to 48kB, but I wonder if there are other limitations.

André Scheffler

Your game development videos are just awesome, I just re-watched all the Planet X³ videos, because it is so interesting,

BastetFurry

I think with time we will see ports to every 6502 system under the sun, which is a good thing by the way. <3 [imagine this strikeouted, patreon won't let me do it]To ship a more obscure one, Yugoslavians Galaksija next? :D[/imagine this strikeouted, patreon won't let me do it] Disregard that, i really thought the Galaksija had a 6502 clone. o.o

Jan-Marten de Boer

It's been awesome, being able to follow the progress of this game and how you covered it in your videos. Great work on the game itself, but outstanding transparency and expectation management as well. I hope you take enough time to reflect on this and be proud of yourself!

John Tuccitto

Can’t wait.

The 8-Bit Guy

Yes, the digital downloads are used for emulators or modern SD-card systems that emulate a disk drive, etc.

The 8-Bit Guy

It seems to be stalled at the moment. The guy that was working on it said he was taking a break. Not sure how long that will be.

walt m

@Jon it'll also work on original hardware if you the means to put it on a floppy; load an sd card with an sd card loader; etc.

Jon Christensen

I was confused as it said "digital download" and I thought that the original machines pre-dated the internet. Must be for virtual machines.

Avery G

How's the IIGS version coming along?

Wanderley Ceschim

Atari 8-bit computers. Description says: "Tested to work on the 800, 800XL, 1200XL, 130XE, and XEGS."

Jon Christensen

So is this for the original Atari or the VCS that came out last year? I would be interested in a VCS version.
