Nice!

Jon Townsend

The oven being out of commission was a slow process and not a topic that we have talked about.

Jon Townsend

The cabin and the g-kitchen are maybe 800 feet apart.

Sue O'Connor

And how did the oven collapse? Did I miss a breaking news story?

Rob Poole

How far away is the German Kitchen in relation to the cabin?

Sue O'Connor

Or at least Patreon members, we'd at least try to do it right, and in the correct spirit, unlike the north American version of living in the era shows... I keep remembering the family who were to be 'Pioneers', who couldn't leave their makeup behind... πŸ€”πŸ˜‚

I love those series so much. But they would have to find someone like Peter, Ruth and Alex or Tom. A tradicional reality show won't work.

David Dinelli

When everything is done you need to have a reality TV series where people have to live in the 18th century. Like the series Victorian Farm or Tudor Farm. When is the livestock coming?

Philip Esteban

Jon, love the channel and happy to support it. As I was looking at the oven-in-progress I was thinking you could go to a thrift store, purchase a wicker basket of similar dimensions and use it for the framework. It would certainly save time. Philip aka Reconphil.

I am loving watching the homestead coming together as a fully functioning homestead, and this earthen oven will add so much. You all are doing an outstanding job. Thank you for all the behind-the-scenes previews!

Julian Corbett

It's probably why all the recent German kitchen videos have only featured cooking on the raised hearth, rather than in the oven. Funny it was not obvious until you said the oven had collapsed, then the penny dropped! :-) Are you planning to rebuild that oven, or will the new location mean that the old set will no longer be used?

Jon Townsend

Oh, it has needed to re-built for more than a year.

Brigit Zent

Love this!

BvD

Oh no. When did the German Kitchen oven collapse?

Lane Andress

I love all the behind the scenes videos! The oven looks great! Brandon's work area shows he's been working pretty hard. I love that all the work areas look like they have legit 18th century style coverings, too. Thanks Jon! Looking forward to the cooking episodes right next to the new oven!

Great size...Ha mud patties :) That looks like great fun!!

Matthew H

Wow, I cant wait for you to fire up Big Bertha! What sorts of large things are you planning on cooking?

Colin Kelly

I'm jealous. I'd love to make an earthen oven out in my yard some day. Just not sure how it would hold up in the Florida rain. Would probably have to make some sort of shelter, without creating a fire hazard. Until I figure that out, I'll just live vicariously through you.
