EPITHET UPDATES + Live Editing Stream (Now)
🕑 Added 2025-02-20 21:40:34 +0000 UTCI'm entering the home stretch of this ~1h15m video about the design of anime openings that Amy and I have been working on for almost two full years now.
Feel free to join me if you're interested in editing streams. If not, here's the next few things in the pipeline:
The Anime OP video is very, very almost done. I'm putting SFX on it, which will be wrapped in ~2 full days of work, today included hopefully. Then I have to put music on it, which I always despise doing, but it usually only takes 2-3 days max. This is the longest video I've ever put out, but only 40 minutes of it needs to be scored.
After final touches and re-timing bits to fit the music, I'll have to actually manage to upload the damn thing. Because this is a video about Japanese media and it uses visuals and audio from the sources, that might take a few tries and I may even have to sacrifice some songs entirely if I want to get it online. Luckily for Patrons, you guys will get to see the video exactly as intended and it will be uploaded here first.
Additionally, one of the reasons this video has taken so much time is because of the Patreon-exclusive content that will be coming out alongside it. When the video comes out, there will be an additional 7 hours of extra videos just for you guys. SEVEN. HOURS. Holy shit! After that, I'm going back to writing Epithet's novelization full-time. The first book is already halfway done. My working title in the doc is Shards of Silence, but I'm probably just going to call the first one Epithet Erased. I can't predict my writing speed, but I'm a very fast writer compared to everything else I do. I think I'm going to try to write at least the first two books (novelization of the Museum arc and the Redwood Run arc) within a month or so. Then, honestly? I might just start on Sweet Escape. Because holy shit have I wanted to write Sweet Escape.
Here's a preview for you of some stuff I've already written for the first book:

The Giovanni Villain song, the final song from the Kickstarter, will be entering production in March. I imagine that'll take at least a month and some change. The song will be very long (the longest of any of them) and getting Kyle in a booth can be tricky with his schedule. Also last time it took Sound Cadence 2+ weeks to get me his audio for some reason, so. Y'know. Random delays.
Don't forget that Manga Book Club is starting back up on March 1st! We'll be reading my favorite manga, Golden Kamuy.
We're also currently streaming fully-voiced playthroughs of Of the Devil on Fridays, which is like if Ace Attorney and Dangan Ronpa were actually good, and Dangan Ronpa on Sundays, which is like if Dangan Ronpa was bad. Which it is!

Very excited to see the season one book adaptations

also if there's a subtitle SEO won't make trying to actually find the book online instead of the series a complete nightmare

Also Jello Kyle's got his own wittle Banzai Baby to take care of, so of course his schedule with being an awesome Soup Daddy to his little minion is his other work, but I'm sure Boss can pull it off to deliver THE GREATEST VILLAIN SONG EVA! :3

Well I ain't going anywhere. I'm on the Epithet boat until the FINAL book series. I wanna see every book that rolls out, see how the plot thickens and HOW it ends in the end. :)
Meg Ryan
I know especially revealing Gio's fear of being betrayed by his minions-Instead he feels betrayed by the Banzai Blaster organization in Redwood Run after learning of their cruel philosophy: 'Minions are just tools'. BUT MINIONS, to Gio, are the HEART AND SOUL OF VILLAINY!

Just so you know Jello-I LOVE the audiobook of prison of plastic even when ya pair it with the book to listen along. ;3 I will do the same for the other books you release-so you know, I support the epithet series and am looking forward to getting the digital and physical copies of your books along with audiobook. From the sneak peeks i see you've expanded on the scenes and dialogue which is neat. :3

I'm planning to release audiobooks for all of them if I can, but I'd like to outsource the editing on the S1 novelizations so I can focus on directing and editing Sweet Escape.
JelloApocalypse
Nope, sorry. I have a non-zero amount of thoughts on Octopath Traveler, but I wanted to play the sequel first and I don't currently have access to my car which would let me go out and buy it so I'm currently playing Hades.

I love the little "fuck Dangan Ronpa" you gave at the end

I think having some sort of subtitle would feel way cleaner too!
Crimson Claw
Ooh exciting. I didn't think the show would be novelized but if the series continues as a novel series it's definitely very important to do that.

Jello, can I pitch "shattering silence" as the title for the Museum arc book? It references the arc's antagonist, and keeps the alliteration going with Redwood Run & Prison of Plastic.
William McKenzie
I was just assuming the two books would be called Panic at the Museum!, and Redwood Run. Those were the titles I had in my head at least.

Do you have a projected timeline of when the next "Jello Reviews" may drop? I understand those don't really have a set schedule and with everything lined up it's not an immediate priority, but I look forward to hearing them when they are posted and it's nice to hear your well articulated opinions on media.

Any idea if the other Epithet Erased books will get a full-cast audiobook? I loved the audio of Prison of Plastic, but I know that’s a lot of work/money.

It's really rare since Molly is almost always acting as the straight-man compared to the other characters, but I really enjoy when Molly gets to be the funny one. Prison of Plastic is almost exclusively about her having a bad time, so it's nice to remember some of her jokes from the Museum Arc. "Hi, I'd like to go to jail" lives in my head rent-free forever.

Oh Noooo! The expanded Epithet bear fight is already pulling on my heart...
