My godson complained that every villain has a sympathetic backstory and "Nobody can just be straight evil anymore" and, while I see his point, I don't have a problem with it in THIS story. This story is from the ground up about nuance

I do like that this show has “humanized” most if not all of the villains with backstories and believable/understandable motivations- I think a lot of us were right there with you cheering for “our” villains against this new group- but this does spell huge trouble for our current heroes
