So, we learned a lot at the garden party- like Lishu was first a concubine to the previous emperor at 9 years old. Sure, concubines could be brought in very young for political reasons (and likely weren’t actually “touched” until they were mature enough to bear children), but given how young the empress dowager was when she gave birth to the emperor (they didn’t say it out loud, but I’ve heard from source material readers that she was apparently 10), the previous emperor had very young “tastes”
