I feel like an important aspect of Ranni's choice is, yes, freeing the world from the influence of Greater Will, but at a cost of removing herself from passions and emotion. Which is in keeping with the cold Intelligence of magic, and also, she is in the shell of a doll, having divested herself of her physical, feeling body. And there is a danger that she will create a very cold and uncaring world. But it could also be read as, she is taking that burden upon herself (and Finchy). People will still feel, be human, but "God" will be at a remove, non-interventionist.
