Finally caught up last night. Wow, what a start to the season. The Beast Titan was definitely a shock. Especially since he can talk and he seemed like he was in charge. I agree with Riley. I don't think there was a breach. I think the titans inside the wall were recently turned from Connie's village. It was desolate and they found no bodies except for the titan that is more than likely his mom. I just want to know what they are trying to accomplish. Right now it seems like they want to wipe out humanity, but then they are also turning people too. I hope we do get answers at some point. I'm excited to watch the next three!

In some people’s defense if you know nothing of AOT and begin watching it you aren’t looking for such a nuance story. But when you’re told that you need to be locked in and hinted at that this story is filled with foreshadowing and plot twists and complex writing, you’re bound to be more alert. I can’t count how many times I’ve watched this show but when Monke starts talking (coupled with no music) I get chills of horror every single time. S2 style of storytelling combined with elements of mystery, horror, and emotion make it stick out to me from other seasons. Maybe the fact that it’s only 12 episodes adds to that.

Don’t feel bad for the cheese! I’ve watched this show so many times and the scenes with Sasha’s dad (especially that line) still make me choke up/shed tears instantaneously. Those are the things that contain the heart of the story and kept me coming back when I got tired of all the bleakness and gore.

aot is a dark show, but i can't be the only one who finds season 2 the eeriest season yet. i think what cannon pointed out adds to this because he's right, the fact that even the characters have no clue what's happening makes everything that much crazier. the scene with that smaller titan munching away on that lady as her daughter watches in horror will forever be one of the most horrific scenes of the show for me. the fact that you can tell she's lost her voice from screaming so much and that she's so unbelievably exhausted from the pain...ISAYAMA YOU PSYCHO! season two has so many painful and downright horrific scenes, miche's death still haunts me!

A good, underrated episode and one that was really needed in retrospect.* Sasha becomes more than just a one note joke about food. Deepening our understanding of the rest of the Scouts, their motivations, relationships, etc. just makes their journeys hit harder. *MILD SPOILERS* Some of the stuff in S4 wouldn't have the same resonance if we didn't have episodes like this beforehand

SPOILER COMMENT: I just noticed this but when Reiner is telling Connie to “snap out of it” and “focus on the mission” it really sounds more like he’s talking to himself than to connie when he’s talking about how hundreds of thousands of lives are on the line. I could be reading too far into it but if it really is hinting at Reiner’s inner self trying to remind himself why he’s there then that’s just genius writing.

Miche had to die because SPOILERS: His nose is too OP. Imagine if he were there during the Wall Maria Retrieval Arc. He’ll be able to smell all those people lying in the bushes (that would later transform into titans), and the presence of Zeke, Pieck, etc. In episode one, he is able to smell the titans that are hundred of meters away, locating the direction. Sasha’s ears are also insane, but they’ll be useless if people stay still. You’re either nerfed (like Levi) or killed when you’re too OP. The gory death also establishes the aura of the beast titan.

I fully agree Moonchild, season 2 is my personal favourite as well. I liked season 1, but it was after season 2 when I finally caved in and began reading the manga as I couldn't wait for season 3!! Personally, I love mysteries, and it is amazing how season 2 enhances the mystery aspect of the show along with the usual suspense, action and thrill.

Hey Carter, that castle they are staying at is within Wall Maria, maybe even Wall Rose since they are going around the inside looking for a hole in the wall. Paradis is just that big that most soldiers wouldn't know every castle. Maybe the soldiers had a map with them, but it looked like they just went around the wall without one.

Season 2 is fire literally. I love seasons 3 and 4, season 1 is nostalgic, but season 2 is a gem. I also love how they started to focus on secondary characters like Sasha, Connie, Christa, Ymir, Reiner and Berthold. Monkey titan introduction is crazy, he looks so scary

Sasha’s dad has some of my favorite bits of dialogue in the whole show, his paradox of the forest and how it ties in with her development as a character is so good. Bradlynn catching that little detail was awesome too, the move she used in the past fighting for her selfish ideals, was now used to take out that kid and herself from the forest, and his dads response to that being “Sasha… you’re all I hoped for” are u kidding me… that’s the most beautiful way to express how proud you are of someone. gotta log out cause I’m getting cheesy and sht🪂 lmao I love seeing the girls so excited in the discussions, they’re not ready for what’s coming😭 can’t wait for friday!!

It never hit me that AoT first viewing could be extremely disturbing and scary for people who aren't desensitized to gore/violence. I don't think Riley should keep watching if she doesn't want to - maybe I am overreacting, but she seems otherwise super engaged in the story beats outside of the gratuitous gore and actually understands what's going on extremely well.
