That’s not true. Since you’ve said it, I’ve got to do a mild spoiler too, even though I didn’t want to. Aguni is indeed likeable towards the end of season 1. His story is the highlight of season 1 and what makes the ending (and writing) of this season so good. To be fair, Aguni’s appearance in season 2 should be a big surprise to the guys. I like how almost all the important characters seem to be references to various Alice in Wonderland characters. Arisu = Alice. It's just the japanese pronunciation of Alice. Usagi = The White Rabbit, Usagi literally translates to rabbit. Chishiya = Chesshire cat. Smug always seems to know more than the rest. The name sounds somewhat similar as well. Hatter = Mad Hatter. That ones really obvious. Kuina = Catterpillar?? Smoking fixation, but that one might be a stretch. Kuina also kinda sounds like Queen, but that would imply she is the big bad and I just don't see that happening, but who knows. I'm sure there must have been more but my japanese isnt nearly good enough to pick up on all the worldplay. Especially trying to figure out who Karube and Chota could have been. Maybe I should rewatch the old disney movie to see what other references I can spot, haven't watched it since I was a kid over 20 years ago. Edit: The more I think about it, Karube and Chota must be the Carpenter and the Walrus. They are 2 unemployed friends, just like the Carpenter and the Walrus. Also, Karube has the kanji for "cut" in his name, and Chota has the kanji for "fat" in his name. Chota ends up using crutches due to his leg injury and the Walrus always has a cane. Karube's hair is also somewhat orange/red in certain lighting and he has a light blue shirt most of the time just like the carpenter.

Maybe because I knew what to expect of Niragi when I first watch this, but his actor does make such a good job on being unlikeable lol (even before the Usagi scene) There is a few liberties take in this adaptation compared to the manga, but Niragi's character is a faithful one 🤢

So this is really a rendition of alice in wonderland with arisu being alice, usagi the rabbit, we have the mad hatter as the leader of the beach. Did I miss anything else? Arisu & Chishiya are both intelligent. The difference: Arisu is emotional & naive, whereas Chishiya is apathetic & sophisticated. In the tag game, Chishiya waited for Arisu to open the door & made him do most of the work. Now, he's using him to find the cards. Watching Arisu get played is so frustrating🤦‍♀️ Chishiya does him dirty but, you gotta praise his perceptiveness & skills. Honestly, they both frustrate me but, I still love em🥰🥰
