and as they brought up, shows like kaiju no. 8 which are not 100% finished could have spoiled stuff in season 2 for all they know, but since they don't have hindsight it doesn't matter. just trying to say their logic of avoiding intros to avoid spoilers doesn't always hold up.

The thing for Haikyuu openings is that the feeling that you get when you watch them throughout the whole series is way different. I used to watch the openings everytime I started a new episode, so I have a nostalgic feeling for everyone of them, especially the first one

Buddy I’ve tried this argument before, on other places, the people screaming “it’s a spoiler, it’s a spoiler” are just louder and somehow their opinion prevails. But yes, you’re absolutely correct, it’s like the last AOT opening; yes, it does say and show the rumbling, but it doesn’t reveal how and when and why it happens, it just makes the viewer excited for what’s to come.

I think ultimate structure is reacting to openings at the end of each season/section (e.g. react to Haikyuu Season 1 openings at the end of Season 1), and then doing the full tier list rankings for everything at the end of the year. Satisfies everyone and keeps things fresh in your mind when you’re just watching the shows and you can feel the vibes/energy of how the openings suit the seasons.

Or for example the 4th ending of FMAB. Every episode leading up to the climax of the series and the promised day would have those epic guitar strings playing to close out the episode and it would be so hype. I go watch that ending and I get the same tension and hype feeling that matches what was happening with the story at the time. Ill rest my case but yea

The feeling Carter had for one of the FMAB ones where he said “just hearing these few seconds reminds me of spring” is kind of the entire point of anime OPs… but also watching it like this you’re forgetting what episodes and storylines even happened during these OPs so it’s missing so much attachment and context. For example anytime I hear any of the FMAB openings it vividly reminds me of the stories and arcs that were happening because they’re tied together. Same with AOT.

I can’t emphasize enough that you don’t know what is a spoiler and what isn’t when you haven’t seen it yet lol. It’s like saying a movie trailer is spoiling everything. Anime openings are basically mini trailers for every arc. The thing where people freaked out about not wanting you to watch the OPs has been pretty overblown since AOT in my opinion, and even then I feel like that was mainly only because of the last one spoiling Eren’s final titan form for like .5 seconds.

i know the ops wont hit u as much on the first listen apart from fly high but believe me, when u watch the songs alongside with the series, it just keeps ringing in ur head and the songs themselves can give u the hype and hope when u listen to them later without the series, may be that's why for us haikyuu fans, the ops are all so nostalgic and so good, even the endings

You guys have to listen to the character songs they recorded for One Piece one day! They literally took the actual voice actors into a recording studio and had them sing songs written for their characters. Someone on YouTube even translated them. Some are genuinely bops and others are hilarious. Super charming thing that not even a lot of One Piece fans know about because they were only released in Japan.

I liked the Haikyu openings. Some more than others. Fly High was one of my favorites. And I liked the first one as well. I thought Toppako was a pretty goodn opening. I like season 3s opening as well. The endings are pretty good. I hope they watch those as well. Personally, I always watch the opening and ending themes. I mean sure there can be spoilers, but I don't think they are that big of spoilers.

The opening is the only good thing Ninja Kamui had, I agree lol My fave Haikyuu op is the one for S3, but I also love the second op for S4 just because of the little detail at the beginning with Hinata spiking to the wall and Kageyama setting to no one and then at the end we have Kageyama setting to Hinata to spike, I LOVE that ❤️
