You are thinking of the blueray version which has the whole finished scene after they went back and finished the scene for blueray release.

This was a good episode. Eren was able to fill the hole. Marco's death seemed a bit odd. I know he's more of a secondary character, but it was weird that it was off screen. Especially after he helped Jean. Levi really came in clutch. It was cool that he is able to use both hands. I'm excited to see more!

It’s definitely more realistic for the soldiers to be acting like this in their first real battles. I actually really appreciate the show for making the characters act this way because most of the time in other shows every character just has unnatural and not realistic bravery whereas if any of us in real life were put in this situation more likely than not we would do the same thing as these characters even if we did train for 5 years

I don't think Brig gets how rare it is for anybody to be good at killing titans. Most people just get snagged out of midair and chomped to death when they try to go for the nape even against regular titans, so the apprehension is understandable.

Sadly, every streaming service (besides Netflix) airs the tv version for season 1 which had major production problems so they all have some weird cuts with the Annie one being the most notable. Netflix does air the Blu ray version but at the cost of having some of the worst translations of all time. For season 1 it’s pick your poison but I would rather the crunchyroll subs.

I've only watched the show in Hulu and Crunchyroll so I don't know how it is in other services. I know in those two the subtitles are a little off with spelling. Mostly with names.

There's two versions of this episode (it happens in several episodes throughout the series). There's the one that a majority of if not all streaming services have (the one we saw) than there's the Blu-ray release version. The Blu-ray release version has the entire scene. The Blu-ray versions of the episodes throughout the series either have slight changes like this episode or have changes to the animation. There's a couple of episodes that have slight animation changes in season 4.

Even the main cast that has been training, it’s one thing to cut the nape on a still fake target and another to actually kill a titan, especially when you consider how abruptly this is all happening for them. One second they’re talking about meat and the next chaos.

Totally agree! Can really see the emotion on her face! And I love how after episodes when they’re discussing you can really tell she’s especially been paying attention. Ik everyone is but you can just see she’s locked in haha! I love too she pays attention to emotional and high tension scenes. When Eren dropped that boulder you can see her building up, starting to breathe harder and what not. I totally remember that feeling the first time I watched it. It was so sick seeing them get a win and Eren pulling through.

the garrison has little to no experience killing titans w the 3D gear since they mostly protect the walls using cannons.. so it makes perfect sense that they wouldn't be able to slice the napes of titans (which are moving targets btw) like it's super easy. it wouldn't make sense with the world that has been established if they were just slaughtering titans left and right lol

In this episode, Isayama highlights one more time how different Eren and Armin are. Armin wants to see and explore the outside world, “flaming water, frozen earth”. He is driven by CURIOSITY. The weird cutaways to backgrounds and still frames while things were happening was because they weren't able to finish the animation in time. AOT actually had a pretty rushed production since S1 so the bluray actually fixes a ton of issues.
