1:05:43 Heads up, this intro is super wacky and not very serious. The reason it's goofy is because Japan was hit by a devastating earthquake and tsunami in 2011. In order to help lighten up morale in Japan, this opening has a light hearted song and goofy animation. I think the next opening is a bit light hearted and goofy as well. But not as goofy as this one.

Brig's whole thing about Naruto being a bad guy is entirely valid though. He had every reason to turn into a bad guy because of how he was treated by the village. Instead, he decided to prove everyone wrong and become hokage. But he was a kid though right, so he still had moments when he questioned it and was angry. This feeds into the Waterfall, and his dark side. This deep, forgotten anger that resides in him because of how he was treated. He's not able to just simply forget about that, even if he wanted to. Next week's drop is gonna be nuts. One of my favorite moments in the entire show.

First time watcher. The shikamaru arc and most of the pain arc was the first part of Naruto that felt was consistently pretty good. I think I call it here though. It’s been a total slog for weeks and I’ve just completely lost interest in the show, and I’m sure the end of the show is fairly predictable. My review of the show overall is it does have a good core theme, good design and cool unique aesthetic. It also has some very good standout moments like Rock lee vs gaara, pain destroying the leaf. But almost everything structurally about the show is pretty poor and the writing is very inconsistent. I’d give the show overall a 6.5-7/10, with the peaks being very memorable.

The conflict Naruto is facing right now is completely different from what happened with Nagato. Back then, it was more about stopping the cycle of hatred. But now, it's about Naruto acknowledging a pain so deep from his childhood that he just can't ignore it—especially how the village used to treat him. He can't simply forgive them. In order to move on and control the Nine-Tailed chakra, he has to confront and resolve the anger, hatred, and sadness that have always existed within him.

Good discussion at the end of this one. Kabuto actually has a lot of similarities to Harry Potter, if Harry was somehow taken under Voldemort wing and was obedient. Orochimaru had ulterior motives when he joined Akatsuki. It was about intel and sample collection, ultimately. He obviously failed when it came to Itachi. Orochi had hideouts to the East and West. He had bacta tanks, humans enslaved, and DNA samples everywhere. He wanted to know every jutsu. Kabuto inherited all that research and all those samples and Orochimaru's Reanimation Jutsu. Don't forget they live in a different world. Child soldiers are normal, the world is callous, Naruto is like an innocent lamb in this cruel world and that's kind of the point. If he can change his world, we can change our world. I love that Shippuden is training arc after training arc. Naruto's power feels so earned. He's not coming in like Solo Leveling. Naruto is going through the Rock Lee-style training. That Master Guy shit

I think these episodes with Naruto interacting with his dark self is the next step following his speech to Nagato. Naruto promised him that he would personally take on and address the hate that is rampant in the ninja world. But now at the Waterfall of Truth he kinda has to walk the walk of that declaration now by first addressing his own hate deep within. Yes, Nagato was a source of that hate and he fought to overcome that by not killing him. But Naruto has had a deeper hate lurking within since he was a baby that he must resolve first before he can truly take on the hate around him.

I can't hear Aoba without hearing Nanami D: Also, the contract he made, is with all the frogs. In order to summon gamabunta or any of those big fighting toads, you'd a big amount of Chakra. Thats why before he was only able to summon Gamakichi and Jiraiya summoned the small yellow one when Tsunade poisoned him. Also Jiraiya summoned many diff toads, in fillers, vs pain, when he infiltrated in the rain village etc. I wish as first timers that people would stop skipping fillers or at least watch them in their own time (people can choose if they want to skip them or not, they can be very interesting and/or funny).

From what I remember, every time the Substitution Jutsu has been used effectively, it’s always by a higher level shinobi against opponents they’re already faster and stronger than. For example, Sasuke used it on Deidara, Pain on Jiraiya and Ibiki on a normal summoning beast. So it’s not really like a “get out of jail free” card that any ninja can use against any opponent. That’s why Motoi’s father couldn’t pull it off against a tailed beast lol.

01:01:06 Kumo is around 3 days from Konoha, similar to the distance between Konoha and Suna, considering Konoha is roughly in the middle of the map and the distance between Konoha and Suna is 2.5 to 3 days at a shinobi pace. But since the Kages meeting was scheduled in 3 days and every kage including Gaara (Suna is farther west) arrived on time, I think they might have traveled from Konoha to Kumo faster than 3 days. The Raikage even said "You all came quick" and Gaara replied "The situation calls for swift action." Even he was curious how Gaara arrived so early lol. I guess Gaara either flew over tough terrain on his sand or used some other method idk

My boy Naruto was so excited to go to the islands 🤩 Sometimes Pierrot adds good stuff for character development, like the convo between Shikamaru and Choji. But other times it makes things feel off - Sakura having a hard time to decide who to save and pulling Naruto from Ichiraku aren’t canon lol

Its not the bodies that they need. You might have forgotten but Reanimation Jutsu uses other ppl's corpses to summon dead souls. You just need a piece of the DNA of the person you want to reanimate and a random corpse. Harisharama and Tobirama were reanimated into some random Ambu Blacks ops back in the Chunin Exams. So they dont need Deidara's body, just his DNA and a corpse.
