s3 is a fan favorite, but I'm in the minority and I don't love it at all. It's a fun, face-value entertainment of a season. But good vibes and good budget weren't enough to win me over. How some of you guys reacted to some of the scenes was very similar to mine when I first watched it (4th of July 2019). The issues I had/have with it are unfortunately too glaring to overlook--like in my opinion, many of the characters/ character arcs feel a bit out-of-character or "off", as you may or may not have noticed (most noticeable is Hopper, lowkey. Which sucks because he was one of my favorite characters before s3). Again, it's fun tho and I can't wait your reactions & thoughts nonetheless!! I don't want to spoil, so don't continue reading this if you don't like soft-spoilers: But I felt like s3 was a sign the show was going downhill back in 2019, so it's great thing I still gave s4 a chance in 2022, because it "revived" the show for me, and fixed many of s3's faults. Definitely peak

They don’t just say Christians because Mormonism is a specific branch of Christianity that has strong differences from other major branches of Christianity like Catholicism or Protestantism. Different beliefs and lifestyle, which is relevant when they mention Mormons in the show.

This seasons my favourite and I love the new characters, it’s also the funniest season imo. And I loved the mystery aspects.

First time they mentioned Mormons in S2, I didn't google what it is. Second time mentioning it, were they big around 80s? Why don't they just say Christians? seeing kids we watched grow up on screen make out made me feel weird, I am with you Hopper on that. So far Chernobyl was the most accurate representation of Russians in American media, let's see how they handle it here. I also think they want to contrast capitalism vs communism, by showing Mall and businesses. Maybe they will show Russia's side as well

I’m not sure if anyone said anything yet about the timeline but the opening with the Russians takes place June 84, while the snowball is December 84, this season takes place July 85 so it’s 7 months since the snowball but a year from the cold opening. So Nancy and Jonathan are going into their senior year, while the party are beginning high school. Steve and Billy are a year older and already graduated.

The thing I appreciate about Season 3 is that it does some much needed world building by showing us the Mall, the newspaper etc. and establishes Hawkins as an actual town. Up until now, Hawkins seemed like a small hamlet with just a school, a Sheriff's office and a couple of houses where the entire plot takes place, with a population of 100. Overall I thought Season 3 was fine, but you can start to see the show becoming a bit of a parody of itself. The characters are often hysterical and over the top. Back when this season came out I remember thinking they should end the show right here as its only going downhill. If it wasnt for the fact that Season 4 is absolutely superb and revitalizes this show, I would probably recommend people drop this show after season 2.

The fact that Cannon has seen all of the show but season 4 is wild. Season 4 is the absolute peak of the show and even saying that is underestimating it, it's that's incredible. Can't wait for the rest of the reactions! <3

most people in the comments seem to agree that the vibes in this season are unmatched, not necessarily better–just unique, and i think that's why it's so beloved. i, for one, am really excited for you guys to keep going. my favourite part about this season is how 80s it feels and the mall is SUCH a perfect setting for those exact vibes.

Season 3 is a great season but compared to other seasons, it feels the least serious but the most wholesome. Which isn’t bad, but just not my cup of tea. Season 4 is my favorite, can’t wait🧚🏽♂️

I mean honestly Hop did keep Mike away from El for an entire year leaving him to think that she was not ok so obviously some resentment there on mikes part and I don’t blame him honestly. Also understand how over protective hop is over El as Mike is as well lol but Loveeeeee this season, there is just a vibe and feeling I can’t describe but s4 by far my favorite season!!!

Season 3 feels like a filler arc that’s canon. I don’t mean that in a bad way necessarily, I really like season 3, but it’s such a different vibe from the rest of the show. It almost feels like fan fiction. Just don’t take it too seriously and have fun with it

I feel like Hopper’s character is very different in s3 overall. It’s almost like he’s often shown through the perspective of Mike. A bit of a bumbling idiot which is completely not his character. The actor also purposely gained weight for the season to show he hasn’t been taking care of himself and to give him more of a “dad” vibe. He calls him Fat Hopper.

Tbf to Mike, Hopper did keep El away from him for a year. Didn't even tell him she was ok. There's probably a little resentment still there. Plus he is a teenager. He's probably gonna be sarcastic and moody sometimes. I think Hopper was more out of line than him with the grandma thing 😂 He's freaking out the whole episode and he's supposed to be the adult 😂

I love every season of Stranger Things but the tone/characters in S3 can feel like a different show with Hopper being the prime example. But it really stands out for the fun summer setting and the spectacle of the mall! My personal ranking is probably 4>2>1>3.
