The filler is holding them back from enjoying the good parts. The more interesting story moments are further apart because of the filler and makes it less engaging for them. I enjoyed some of the comedic filler with Bon Clay and Buggy but I also binged this arc. That's why people said to one pace this arc, the boys are only watching 4 eps a week, so it's more frustrating if the story doesn't really move along

I’m surprised, I’ve never really seen hate for impel down, on either the anime nor manga. Since Sabaody we’ve been on a generational run. I’ve seen so many memes of the burning horse or someone writing and the pen’s on fire and it’s titled “Oda when he was writing sabaody ➡️ impel down ➡️ Marineford”😭😭 I completely understand pacing issues but there has already been so much good stuff and a lot of progress: - We got Boa and Luffy infiltrating (cute moment between them) - Luffy and Buggy reunited and their duo is too good - Mr. 3 got added and later Buggy and him formed an alliance to escape - Boa met with Ace - Bon Clay reunite with Luffy and it’s one of the best friendships - We got introduced to Jimbei - We learned Shanks encountered with Kaido - Buggy and Mr. 3 have their lil side quest of escaping while struggling - Luffy fights with Magellan and we get to see how much of a problem Magellan is - Luffy is on the verge of death but Bon Clay saves - We see conquerors haki again since that last time it happened was Amazon lily - We met Ivankov, the Queen of New Kama Land, the “miracle worker” that Bon Clay worships and this relates back to Sanji - Luffy losing 10 years of his life just to fight against the poison - We get to see what Ivankov can do HEEHAW - And we’re now in level 5.5 and were literally soo close to Ace We’re already been in the good bits since the get-go. I understand pacing but it’s not terrible and neither the content. Now this second half …. is where the peaks getting even better 😁

Watch them rate impel down the same as thriller bark lmao. I knew they wouldn’t like the first half of this arc because the pacing is bad and toei adds unnecessary gags, very drawn out scenes and unnecessary filler. I know there are impel down glazers but the first half of this arc would’ve been 10x better in one pace, nothing is lost. Some arcs especially down the line are outright unwatchable with normal pace, hopefully those arcs get the justice they deserve. Balancing one pace and toei piece is the better way to do it for new watchers. Just a suggestion as along time watcher who gets many people into one piece.

They have their role but it should be noted that all those scenes with them this episode was filler and much of their appearances and extra moments in episodes are also filler. Some ppl enjoy unserious characters while others like myself and McKay prefer to stick to the main thing. Hence why I suggest use one pace which would of cut out 16 episodes worth of mediocrity 🤷‍♂️🥱

Bon Clay has to be one of the most loyal underdogs in the entire series. Definitely in my top 5 . His devotion to Luffy is genuinely on par with any Straw Hat. Luffy’s suffering becomes even more powerful when you look at the juxtaposition between their struggles, with Luffy battling the raw, physical agony of Magellan’s poison while Bon suffers the mental torment of hearing his friend scream and being unable to intervene. Time and the resilience of the human spirit being the only thing that could take both of them out of their respective torment. That contrast and with Ivan’s whole speech layered on top of it, it becomes one of the most underrated pieces of storytelling Oda has ever written.

Luffy did not run out of stamina vs magellan yall, his body was being ravaged by like 4 different typed of poison, that got accelerated effect due to his going gear 2, which causes the blood in his body to circulate much faster
