I fully agree! I’m honestly surprised this show isn’t getting JJK-level week-to-week hype. I’m a huge JJK fan, but even I can admit I can see Gachiakuta being the stronger new-gen shonen in the long run. The power system actually makes sense, and the overall vibe is just so good.

I really do love the power system in this show, the fights feel so much more grounded since they use physical weapons like you can feel the impact in their fighting, it's so creative :)

IDK if this will make sense, but this anime might be the best of this era in evoking the "feel" of watching anime in the 90s and 2000s as a kid. I think it might just be the grimey quality to its tone and visuals. Watching a dreaded dude with claws talk about the hard on he's getting from imagining just how much people view him like garbage feels like something I saw as a kid up too late watching Toonami. Like I stumbled across THAT scene of Shinji in the hospital room from the NGE movie at eight years old again going "Uh. What." Show just has a really raw edge to it that already starts popping up this early on and which will VERY much continue as the story proceeds. Nothing grotesque or exploitative, just a respect for your ability to handle mature subject matter while also serving up some REALLY RAD SHIT. Season 1 of this show is firmly up there in that JJK and Chainsaw Man territory for me. I just really dig it and how it's somehow made 31 year old me very nostalgic.
