Thanks! This reaction didn't really hit for me. I think there was too much energy spent on voicing your dislike of Danzo. Guy is such a goat though. Never resenting Kakashi for ignoring Asuma, Kurenai and him. Always coming from a place of understanding.

In OG it was stated that Kakashi had never passed a single student. Iruka was freaking out when he found out Naruto and co. had been assigned to him. Next ep is my fav of this arc. Kakashi was quite aloof with Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura when he first met them. As a 12 year old kid when I first watched I hated him cause he was such a jerk 😂 He did quickly become my favorite though.

Yeah it brings the pacing to a grinding halt. The reason for it is understandable. Weekly manga and weekly anime. Catches up quickly to the manga. But it's been completed for years. Little need to spend time on these fillers.

I love this show to death, man, but this is my biggest issue with the war arc. The sheer amount of filler, and repeat flashback scenes of Danzo/Hiruzen and the Kakashi/Rin/Obito stuff is crazy. Stuff gets real good in the main storyline, welp too bad, gotta wait 12 episodes for it to pick back up. Some of it is fine, don't get me wrong. I think a bit of it is even necessary, but most of it is the same stuff we've seen already a hundred times. And Jack, you're mistaken about it being a "Namikaze" thing. The red hair is an Uzumaki thing. They had their own village outside the Land of Fire. They are relatives of the Senju. Namikaze was Minato's family name.

Yeah I disagree I think these episodes gave a good sense at what Kakashi went through and the ptsd he had, which made me like how he was able to overcome it and eventually become who we see in OG. Still carrying his past but moved on and became more mature. Also we see Shisui which hasn’t really been seen before, along with the context of distrust between the uchiha and the leaf and how it grew.

Danzo disgusts me. I just had to say it. He just does. I already hated him when he revealed his arm implanted with eyes of a clan he murdered, but somehow, in these particular episodes, I find myself hating him more. It’s like a reinforcement of an old feeling. I hate that the village isn’t aware of just how much of a piece of shxt he is and that Itachi is just such a villain in most people’s eyes.

fun fact the itachi stuff although technically not canon, it was later made into a light novel and some people do count it as canon for that reason. but even then it has some contradictions

Kakashi is basically “Good” Sasuke who was able to overcome his losses on not become an edge lord forever Even with this being filler I think some of the themes come back in the fight with Obito and Madara. We’re back to PEAK next week

Naruto is not a Senju, neither is Nagato. They are both from the Uzumaki Clan who are distant relatives of the Senju Clan. Obito said that Nagato is from the "Senju Lineage", I believe he just means they share some blood, being that they both have a common ancestor.

They never say this in the anime, but Shisui was poisoned by a member of the Aburame Clan (Shino's Clan). So it wasn't even a fair fight against Danzo, since the poison had paralyzing effects. The poison would've also killed him, but instead Shisui killed himself in order to prevent his other eye from being taken by Danzo and to prevent further conflict within the clan and also with the village.

I think the fact that a lot of the events in Kakashi anbu have little to nothing to do with him other than him being sort of present is pretty smart. It shows that Kakashi has been worn down for years from situations completely of his control, the ones in authority force the murder and pain on the workforce while they only sit and chat about the things they will put others through. Nobody should have to go through what Kakashi has experienced in his life especially since Kakashi is still so young. His father took his own life, experienced an entire war and lost a lot of friends besides Rin and Obito, Minato invited him to anbu so they could stay close but then he and Kushina died, 3rd Hokage and Danzo made him murder and deceive people for 10 years, etc. It's no wonder he doesn't want to eat sweet dumplings when his trauma runs so deep

It was a long time ago so I get why you guys don’t remember, but Kakashi passing team 7 was a big deal, they mentioned it back in OG, Iruka was shown a book showing all the students that kakashi has been assigned to, and iruka was surprised to see that he’s never passed a single student, and then of course he passes Naruto and Co.
