Just to set expectations, Frieren is quite a slow burn most of the way through. It's not at, at least in this season going to become a big fantasy epic like LotR. Just focus on a lot of the sly little details, callbacks and the super good animation details they slip in and on Frieren's personal growth as a character on this journey. The main plot will become clear soon enough but it's not a pressing world-ending quest or anything, so the show could feel a bit aimless which is usually what its detractors find.

I'm glad you guys are liking it. I liked how Frieren is trying to understand Fern and what she likes because she regretted not getting to know people more. It is sad that Himmel and Frieren never got to have their romance. I like how she was able to defeat the demon years later after studying how to defeat his magic.

The reason Freiren collects it is because she’s an elf. For a human with short lifespan, mages probably spend half their life mastering a few spells, meanwhile Freiren probably know a million spells at this point

I think One Piece is kind of an outlier because a lot of the animals are voiced by the strawhats (Nami as Gonbe, and Sanji as Karoo). It’s kinda fun to try to figure out who’s who. 😂 although another animal voiced by a person I can think of is Bond from Spy x Family.

You'll understand her (Frieren) more as you move along in the story and you'll learn more about her connections WITH her during this story as well. The next episode is bit of a dip I feel in season one (at least for me) but everything after that I just feel like keeps increasing exponentially as far as plot, world building and even action. I know me and everyone else have certain episodes we're all anxiously waiting for you all to get to and I'll spoil none of it, not even with episode numbers, but man when you get there you'll know! I can barely stand it I'm so excited for you guys 😆!!!!

Really appreciate Cannon's comment comparing Qual to a guy with a Musket because that was my thought as well after this episode that really pulled me in as a fan of the show. So much fantasy stuff goes the other way where everything old is mega powerful just because. Frieren balances it well with some old stuff being great, but acknowledging that with passing time some gets out scaled.

Love how yall see some similarities between Frieren and Violet Evergarden, both of the Mc are a type of "dere" (personality) called Kuudere they are mostly shown as cold and emotionless. It's such an heartwarming experience seeing Frieren slowly learn the Human experience and want to connect and make amends with people, that's why the emotional moments hit so much harder because imo despite her outward maturity i think Frieren is the most emotionally vulnerable when she realizes her feelings, as she is very inexperienced with emotional intimacy (basically a child emotionally). The theme revolving around life and growth makes Frieren such a powerful story also the music is done by the same guy Evan call.

This episode has one of my favorite scenes specifically the one were the heros party mentions there favorite desserts and the dwarf says sour grapes and if you recall Fern mentions them being rewarded with a spell that made grapes extremely sour so it shows frieren remembered that and has been collecting spells since himmels death that would do something that her former party would enjoy
