This arc is Oda coming as close as possible to apologizing for Japan's war crimes in China especially against women without outright saying it (since Japan can be kind of touchy about admitting their crimes), that's at least my read on it. They are the leaders of an island and of the pirate group, people that everyone looks up to and respects, and they really don't want anyone to see them as the Celestial Dragons ex-playthings. Growing up as a female slave between ages 12 to 16 brings up some connotations that are not suitable for a shonen manga.

Happy to be the stick in the ass about this, but Jack, the next arc is extended by 16 episodes worth of filler mixed in with extended cuts, please please please use One PACE for ID. There’s honestly no reason not to since it’s more accurate to the original manga experience & people throughly enjoyed it better when filler is cut out. Some reactors even regretted not using it. For ppl who continue to knee-jerk about One PACE, it’s not unreasonable to use it at all for certain arcs. We already know people skip fillers so why not acknowledge the immense amount of filler that’s bloated the anime with 700+ worth of episodes? Toei stopped adapting the minimum chapter adaptation per episode they used to do in earlier arcs which was 2-3 for weekly anime. The next arc they adapt 1 chapter per episode which resulted in MORE episodes than chapters in this arc which is diabolical because it requires them to stretch it with filler. For reference modern anime adapt 3-4 chapters per episode. So adapting 1 chapter per episode is truly insane. And it’s just a given that most enjoy it way more with One pace

Boa's pride isn't exclusive, it stems from her hatred of men. Hatred that isn't born from prejudice, but as a shield to protect herself and out of defiance of the world that was created by and for men. Her pride is an attempt to reclaim control and dignity of her life that was brutally been taken and stripped away from her. fyi guys the only time luffy has responded with lust to anyone is the nami bath scene in alabasta when he gets a nosebleed and when Bon Clay(Mr. 2) transforms into nami so if you are wondering if Luffy likes Nami here's sort of an answer from Oda: From SBS 54 D: Hey, Oda. In volume 53, chapter 518, Hancock's "Mero Mero Mellow" had no effect on Luffy at all, but in volume 23, chapter 213, it looked like he had a reaction to Nami's "Happiness Punch". Why did he respond to Nami's naked body but no to Hancock's? Is Nami's body just that amazing? -Kazu O: Wow, I got a lot of questions about this. Is this what you guys are paying attention to? Don't just read manga all day, go study some more!! Okay? Well, I say that, but I do nothing but draw manga. I noticed this when we were drawing it, but if Luffy had a nosebleed when he saw Hancock's body, I think you would all be like "Ehh!?". That's not the Luffy we know.
