regarding ace's death, i relate so deeply both to carter's depression and cannon's frustration. i felt like that my first time but over the years ive really come to appreciate the arc of ace's death. the senseless "what was it all for?!" just made the point of this arc stronger, which was utter defeat. this was frustratingly in character for ace to do and it just compounds all the emotions you feel and how bad you feel for luffy. ace didn't have to be perfect to be an amazing, impactful character.
