This is why I love our conversations!! Fond Phantom, your brain is beautiful! Your thoughts on Raziol being resentful and confused after returning to Vivi's shop are genius! I can totally picture that now! I would be completely upset as well after expecting your magic and non-human friends to be there to support you, and everyone is just gone. 😩 I sincerely hope Vivi left him a note somewhere detailing where they went and where Sulvain was and what was happening to him. But at this point all we have is him in his suit, cleaned up and well again, staring into the abandoned shop. And you're right again, Sulvain was a mystery in a lot of ways. He was just touching on Magoi to Raz at Versailles, but never had a chance to explain further because Raz was attacked shortly after. And what of Sulvain's trauma seeing Raziol's blood trail, fearing the worst (not feeling his ligelumes anymore) 😱😱😱😱 Ooohhhh feeling his ligelumes!!!! Sulvain is probably permanentlu cut off from feeling Raziol's life-force if he's undead!!! What if Vivi and Sesam did something similar to prolong their lives and Sulvain can't sense whether they passed away or not? Is distance a factor or could he search for their ligelumes from anywhere? If that's the case, is he under the assumption that all of his friends are dead or "missing" from his senses?!

yes to all of this!! i’ve also wondered if raziol developed some kind of grudge? or resentment?? towards sulvain (or even vivi!), considering how he did as he said— left paris, came back when ready, look for him in her shop, only to find it empty. what did raz think of that? that it was on purpose, that they forgot, that something worse had happened and he had no choice but give up? that’s why i’d understand if their reunion turns out to be messy and filled with complicated feelings where, even if both of them do feel like they want to be close to the other, they *can’t* let themselves act on it because there’s so many questions left unanswered. especially from raz’ end— sulvain was still a mystery to him when they were forcefully separated, and he was just starting to scrap the surface. it’s gonna be good either way, tho 🙂‍↕️

I appreciate it too. I was getting caught up in the angst and wanting their relationship to remain as it was. But realistically, that probably isn't the case. Not should it be, as the healthier way of moving forward would have been to explore who they are and other relationships.

Man this thread is good for my soul, I’m so sad Raziol doesn’t seem to recognize Sulvain but it does make sense if he’s had a flurry of relationships and interactions over the last century. Can’t wait for more Raziol backstory!

Some great thoughts! And realistically, I agree with you. Especially if Raziol has new found confidence since Paris. His powers as well as stepping out of his comfort zone, leaving Paris and discovering himself and who he really is. While Sulvain was in stasis and didn't really change (at least for the 80 years he was sleeping).

Honestly one of the most interesting angles for me about the time skip is—how could they NOT have moved on?? Their romance was monumental and unfinished and of course they wouldn’t simply forget it—but it was also a few months several hundred years ago and they would both be 95% certain that the other is dead. It means that when they find each other again, I don’t know what’s going to happen!! Leaping into each other’s arms doesn’t seem likely—and especially if Raz has spent his life trying to skate above commitment and not get attached, he’s going to have to contend with a person who it is possible to attach to (and how scary that is). I’m so looking forward to slowburn part two!! Of course, I’m not at all opposed to the “no time at all has passed” big damn kiss right off the bat. I just don’t think it’s what we have coming 😉

I agree with you, Fond Phantom. Realistically, I wouldn't begrudge either of them moving on at this point. It's just so frickin sad. And they haven't been together and happy for so long. The thought of either of them committed to someone else or not ready to get back with one another is just sad. It's been such a short time for us compared to 215 ish years since they saw one another.

i think *because* raziol met bevan, over time he could grow to understand more the idea of no commitment = no pain of separation = happy, free life. his relationship with sulvain could even serve as proof, because they were together for such a short (by now) amount of time, and yet raziol was SO enamored and his whole heart was set into the idea of a future with sulvain, that he doesn’t want to feel the pain of losing all that so suddenly again. but he also doesn’t want to deprive himself of these one-night, shooting-star-quick pleasures. they make him happy, confident (from what we’ve seen so far) and, also, that might just be the norm of this queer, underground culture present in these balls??? maybe???? which isn’t to say that he doesn’t miss sulvain! or doesn’t think of him often or doesn’t miss him. he can do all of that and still have flings like these— or he could be coping with sul’s loss like this (kinda not ideal but oh well). i guess what i’m trying to say is that raziol moving on doesn’t mean he’s leaving sulvain behind, he just doesn’t know where to look for him anymore. and that is sad, but he can party from time to time 🕺

I'm so conflicted on whether this is Raz or not...The pessimist in me is preparing for the worst (the worst being that it's not him) but the itty bitty tiny optimistic part of me wants to believe it's him. But life isn't that simple for our sweet necromancer. I'm preparing myself for the plot twist. 😫

What's worse to me is if Sulvain is still hanging onto hope and sorrow thinking about Raziol and......what if Raziol moved on?! What if Raziol is different or changed into more like Bevan was..... Casual sex and making out but no real commitment (which is fine, but, but...) And what if Sulvain remained true to Raziol this whole time?!! It's just so frickin sad. Oh gods I need to lay down.

Sulvain is going to bolt.....OMG I know he will. I don't think a kiss would be consensual at this point. Especially if he was just standing on the side missing Raziol. If he doesn't know who this random guy (to him) is, I doubt he will let himself be kissed.

Even though I want them to kiss soooooooo badly. I don't want Sulvain to be forced into it. He has stated before in the woods and with Hargrave that his body is his domain. If he's still not recognizing Raziol then it might be too forward for him. I would hate for Sulvain to push away from Raz now. 😭

Okay but it is so interesting to see the way Raz has changed. On one hand I think it's healthy and lovely that he's so bold and goes after things that feel good, but given who he was before all this indeterminate trauma, I'm so so curious to see how that progression happened--when and how did he decide he needed to seize these moments? Please, I beg, his life story.
