I think what I truly love about this story is how immortality is depicted. The characters who possess it are not angsty, violent, and bored (as they usually are in media) instead they are joyful, and despite the centuries, still filled with so much wonder, curiosity, and kindness. sorry for more text, but here’s a better explanation: rose-colored glasses = replacing something neutral or unpleasant with something pleasant; pulling wool over eyes = making it seem like the unpleasant thing doesn’t exist/isn’t happening at all (literally the person is “blind” to anything that is happening). there are more phrases/idioms in this category too, like “misty-eyed” or “fog of memory”

😭 they’re so close!! this scene is so beautiful and I’m so excited to see where everything goes. if you wanted some more info on idioms, a professional editor would be a better resource than me, but (if you are looking for input!) the phrase “pull the wool over one’s eyes” isn’t really used in this way by native speakers/it tends to mean something negative is about to happen. speakers tend to use “seeing through rose-colored glasses/lenses” to mean “he’s tricking himself into seeing what he wants to see,” but will use “pulled the wool over his eyes” to mean “someone deceived him in order to profit from his misunderstanding.” it’s often used to mean someone is being scammed, cheated on, or embezzled from (like the subject is naïve and easily taken advantage of). anyway please feel free to ignore this, just wanted to give some extra info bc idioms can be fun and also very tricky
