I want to express deep appreciation for a specific aspect of the full circle. Originally, Sulvain was reticent and isolated while Raziol was innocently curious and playful. Here, Sulvain is hopeful and curious while Raziol appears to have hardened himself in isolation. They've been through so much, together and separately. As we draw closer to closing the circle, I can't help but imagine the original pair facing their modern pair as if looking in a mirror. How time has shaped them around each other, into each other. KaiJu's talent with these delicate moments and emotions eternally impresses me.

I also found myself wondering the other day about the possibility of Raz being kind of angry when they officially reunite. If he isn’t, that’s great, but I can imagine with his past abandonment trauma, being left on his own for 300 years without a way to contact Sulvain (with Vivi gone), it might have triggered some negative feelings. We shall see, but we know eventually things will smooth out even if they’re a little rocky to start. 💕💕

And to be honest? That's so good for them. Now I see it as - even if Raziol will idk panic, or get angry, or won't know if he can trust Sulvain again (idk maybe I am overdramatic) he will have this yearing, reminder of Sulvain sweetness and (mental) warmth 😭❤️‍🔥♨️ , he got the taste of Sulvain all over again, how will he copeeeee

I'm guessing the former. Huygens had clearly drawn the anger of that one jerk that got squashed beneath a bone pile because he'd supplanted said jerk's place in the courts, yet he seemed totally ignorant of the existence of magoi. In fact the only people who knew of magoi outside themselves had either been pulled into it by connection (i.,e. Sulvain using the grasshopper carriage in the middle of the night to impress his boy, he may as well have been showing up in a Maybach complete with chauffeur) or learned about it incidentally (as in the case of those two investigators)... or died so quickly they had absolutely no idea what'd killed them like that one guy. On the other hand in the seventies you clearly have a pretty casual occult scene, but then again you had one then in the real world, and you have one now in the real world. You've got Sherwin, who looks too young to be a tenured professor yet has his own office in a university. You've got an early twentysomething who casually name drops Sulvain's occupation, but Sulvain himself was clearly profoundly uncomfortable with her doing that. I'm hoping we'll get some kind of infodump on how the occult world and how it interfaces with the wider world have changed in the last several centuries.

It hadn’t occurred to me that Raz might have spent more time than Sulvain’s 80-something years withdrawn from the world! We know he was active about 60 years prior to this point, but Ring of Saturn told us very little of his life. I do LOVE that this man, knowing full well he doesn’t look a day over 22, is speaking like the wizened elder he is. Does not even occur to him to use a cover story—either he’s comfortable with the idea that people really don’t notice what they don’t expect, or he’s not that bothered by people finding out. 👀
