Sulvain used mostly old French sign language back then which is what modern ASL is based on. :D So many of the signs would be similar or the same. But he did learn modern ASL as well to fit in with current society. And yep, Raziol knows ASL :D

So this was a random thought. I know that Sulvain can be clumsy (*knocking over a bunch of musical records, dropping coins, bumping into people*) but the fact that he isn’t *more* clumsy, that he can dance, fight, run, snatch beer cups out of god children’s hands with ease is amazing. He’s literally controlling himself like a puppet with his own abilities. It’s amazing he doesn’t bump into things more. He has such fine tuned control. And the fact he loses control of himself here not because he’s angry, or afraid, but because he sees Raziol again and knows he’s seeing him is beautiful and a testament to just how much seeing Raziol again affects him. (Aaah I haven’t commented so much on a comic in a long time. 🤣)

I was thinking about that too. Raziol, however, had a lot of bitterness in “The Rings of Saturn” comic. I hope he has gotten better since then. The scene in the study room makes me think he’s doing a little better. (But I don’t know if Raziol has a group of friends who know what he’s been through.) But I suspect, and hope like you do, that Sulvain is going to be more open with Raziol about what he’s been through, and Raziol has centuries of maturity now to understand his perspective.

It’s really interesting the way they’ve almost switched roles. Raziol seems composed and well-adjusted to his new life, and Sulvain is a wreck and probably has been for a long time. Before they got separated, I’d never have expected Raziol was the more resilient one. Sulvain seemed to have so much more life experience. Now that I see this, though, it makes so much sense. Raziol has always been more open/free with his emotions, which is healthier than keeping them all in. Bottling things up just makes them fester, which l think is part of what’s been going on with Sulvain. All his unresolved grief and trauma has been eating away at him from the inside. 😔💔 Now that he knows Raziol is okay, I hope he can start healing.

I was wondering this too! My grandma’s parents were from Sicily, and they spoke Italian at home. But after her parents passed away and she went decades without using it, she couldn’t have conversations in Italian anymore. She’d forgotten too much of it after not using it. And that’s just within a human lifespan—nowhere near 300 years. 😅

I think Raziol’s teefs come out a little in heightened emotional states, like how when Sulvain gets excited *this* happens and he can’t control his body. Maybe Raziol gets distracted in trying to hide his traits!
