I agree, I think Udaya embroidered it! 🥹🥰 It’s hard to see the purple during the crusades flashback because it’s a nighttime scene, but on the day he married Udaya, it’s purple but not yet embroidered. Someone on webtoon more familiar with Indian customs than me said the scene of a young Udaya with white flowers in her long braid is their wedding, based on the flowers worn and the hairstyle. But when he’s crossing the desert after she dies, the cloak is embroidered. 🥺💔

Thank you, Saltandcookies! I have something to add. In the scene of Sulvain in 1100s armor, his cloak is not purple on the inside. Given that it has Indian designs, I think it was an addition he made after meeting Udaya (and I feel like I heard someone on here say she was the 1500s but I have no idea how to evaluate which it is).

Sas, I love that description of the comment section on patreon! 😆 One of my favorite parts about becoming a patron is that I can meet other people who are as obsessed with Novae as I am. My partner is a gem for listening to me talk about Novae for hours every time he meets me, and I’m endlessly grateful, but he just doesn’t GET it, you know?? He’s never read it. 🥲

From my research in the comment sections of every platform I could find this on except gumroad…. (Drumroll/warning to anyone who doesn’t want potential spoilers about details the story itself hasn’t revealed……) . . . —Sulvain’s armor matches the style used during the crusades in the 1100s, so 12th century. —Somewhere on twitter, it was confirmed Sulvain was born in 1020, so he probably died in the 1040s. —It’s confirmed Vivi, Sesam, and a few other characters are still alive, though we’re not sure how yet —There have been hints that the embalmer Vivi took Sulvain to was a Mender. It hasn’t been confirmed, but there were wheat motifs on the coffin and some other hints dropped. —Sulvain (and most likely his sister) were sentenced to be stoned to death. Historically, if a stoning goes on for several hours without causing death, the condemned person will be quietly strangled (which we’ve watched happen to Sulvain 😢) Typically, everyone in the village HAS to take part in the stoning, even family and loved ones who may not want to. —The person who strangled Sulvain had tear stains on his sleeves and is suspected by some to be his father, as they have the same hairstyle as his father in the bonus comic and the same skin tone as Sulvain. This hasn’t been confirmed, and his father has been shown to have facial hair, but it’s *possible* and if true, would give even more tragic meaning to why he became mute. —Sulvain’s master was a redhead in the flashback we see of him burning at the stake —Sulvain’s cloak is the same style and color as his master’s, but with purple lining I’m probably forgetting some, but I hope this is as exciting for others as it has been for me. 🥰 Novae changed my life when I discovered it just over a month ago. It gives me something to think about other than sad stuff, and I’m so grateful to have this space to discuss it with other people who love it as much as I do. 😭❤️🙌 . . . . (Potential spoilers/theories above.)

All of you guys are awesome. I've been going back and rereading, too, but I'm new to this, and I haven't really mined the comments, so it's really great to see all the details you've picked up. There's a lot of foreshadowing available just in the images/dialogue, too. I'm sure you all already noticed that in the shot of Sulvain razing the city, he's wearing exactly the same armor as he is when he saw the comet diverge... Im doing this thing that I read comments under older early pages on patreon and I came across this comments that Sulvain is so comfortable with Raziol that he lets the little details slips 😂 (and KaiJu replied to that that Raz is too oblivious and scientific AT THE MOMENT" -it was in 2019 lol) maybe he will finally puzzle those out. As much as I hope Sulvain will tell Raziol more about himself too… I can totally imagine him NOT explaining, then they’ll pass someone Sulvain met during the house party at school, and they’ll call out “AYYY, it’s the NECROMANCER!” and Raziol will finally have the last puzzle piece needed to connect the dots himself. 😂😭 Well, in Sulvain’s defense, this is probably not the ideal time to break the news. “I thought you were dead!” “I am.”
