Finally back from my second unexpected trip of the summer, so I'm now hunkering down to finish Catalyst as soon as possible.

Malura? The whole time I was reading Catalyst I wondered if there was going to be more from her. Sarah Hawke loves her badass chicks who are misguided members of villainous organizations but see the light (usually in the MC's pants). I was actually wondering if she'd end up with Kal or Leenam. On the one hand, she had more interaction and more in common with Leenam, and he barely had a harem yet, while Kal has the biggest of any Hawke hero, but on the other hand, Kal's the only Seraph-setting male lead who doesn't have a Shadow/Spider in his collection. Also, I think Ash would be more accepting of a Shadow in the family if she could keep an eye on (i.e. fuck) her, instead of leaving her alone with Ash's brother. On the other Markael is still unaccounted for, and from how he's described, he's got power to compensate for his lack of combat chops, and he could be someone Malura runs into on her own adventure, the classic Sarah Hawke rogue babe with a mage lover; a kind of Jorem/Valuri-Dorian/Kaya-Mirek/Shayera (even Cole/Kaveri) type dynamic. My personal preference is for the Kal-Rohen-Raz-Duncan warrior type, but the other kind works too.
